Express handle Burford in Tournament Game 1
The R. McNiven & Sons Insurance Ingersoll Express Atom Rep team ventured to Paris on Friday, November 2, to play their first game in the Rob Johnson Memorial Tournament against Burford. The Express boys are familiar with results in this tournament, having been Finalists last year in the Atom Rep division. They're also still fresh of of their conquering of the Caledonia Challenge Cup in October. And the boys continued to ride their high of recent games, taking it to Burford from the first whistle.
After a first period dominated by Ingersoll in the Burford end, the boys lit up the scoresheet, with Parker Hodgson scoring three goals, and Cole Ellis, Nathan Bailey & Ethan Emerson each adding one of their own on solo efforts. Burford did respond with one goal late in the third period, but it did not slow the Ingersoll boys down a bit, as they skated to a 6-1 victory.
Ingersoll next plays tomorrow (Saturday) at 10 am against host Paris, and then again at 4 pm where they face a tough opponent in Flesherton.
To play catch up on some games of recent, the boys have been on a nice winning streak since the Caledonia tournament the weekend after Thanksgiving. In that time, they have played 5 games (4 league, 1 exhibition), and have a 4-1-0 record through those games.
League games included tilts with Port Dover (W 10-3), Norwich (W 4-2), Tavistock (L 3-2) and Twin Centre (W 5-3). Thrown in the mix was an exhibition win against Thamesford, 7-3.
The team next plays back to back nights for the league schedule next week, hosting Simcoe on Thursday, November 8 at 7pm, and then travelling to Aylmer the next night for a 7:20 pm start time.
