It's game/ season on for Anderson Appliance Novices
It was finally here, the first game of the 2012/13 for the Anderson Appliance Novice team. We were facing a team we had never seen before, coming down Highway 19 south in Tillsonburg.
Listening to the chants of the players coming out of the dressing room, this game couldn't come soon enough. It always brings us parents joy seeing how excited our little ones get.
The warm ups were done, hands were all shaken and the puck was dropped. Ingersoll controlled the play most of the game, and jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a pair of goals from Evan Hopson.
We out played Tillsonburg at both ends of the ice and even killed off a penalty that shocked us all when we were called for body checking. Our 3-1 victory happened mainly because Jeremy Hardeman played very good in net, and made some key saves to keep us on top when called upon.
Rhylan Warford made it 3-0 late in the 2nd period winning a foot race against the defenceman. The 3rd period ticked away with us spending a lot of time with the puck and in their end. Tillsonburg finally broke the shutout sneaking one by Hardeman late in the 3rd. Everyone played great, and most importantly had fun.
The final buzzer sounded, we all cheered and clapped and the players bombarded Jeremy screaming with happiness. Yep hockey was back for our little ones and seeing them happy just to be playing the game, makes us think hey! What's the league that's locked out? LOL
I'm pretty sure we'd all take the smiles on our kids faces over salary caps, revenue sharing, and news about bitter negotiations anytime.
