Verspeeten's Hockey Week
Verspeeten Cartage had a busy week carving the ice. From February 4th to the 9th the team faced off against three friendly rivals.

The Peewees of Verspeeten Cartage faced hard-hitting teams and kept their chins up, and their bodies loaded and ready to receive or give a check whenever needed. Brodi Carbaugh, in net, even took a puck to the mask - stopping the shot beautifully and demonstrating the importance of facial protection. Carbaugh’s mask, stick, padding and talents put on quite a show throughout these the games this week.

As Tillsonburg was welcomed to Ingersoll February 4th, Verspeeten skated magically around their opponents, with grace and precision. Kristopher Procter had assistance from Hailey Wright and Ethan Vlemmix, taking the first goal of the week. Later in the game, Tillsonburg’s net was targeted by Jacob Branderhorst whose goal-scoring shot was would not have happened without the assistance of Nolan Costa and Mark Tucker. The scoring didn’t end there, however. Procter found the empty Tillsonburg net during the final minutes of the game when his was fed the puck by Jack Van Egdom. The final score was Tillsonburg 1, Ingersoll’s Verspeeten Cartage 3.

Travelling to Waterford, Carbaugh brought the team to a shut out on February 6th. With Branderhorst scoring the first goal, via the assistance of Procter and Van Egdom, Procter went on to score the second goal, with assistance from Branderhorst. This great team effort by all Verspeeten Cartage players bought home a 2-0 victory over their Waterford rivals.

Wrapping up this week of hockey was an exhibition game against Embro, at the Carmeuse Lime Invitational on February 9th. Although Verspeeten was unable to find the Embro net, Verspeeten’s friendly rivals chose their magical goalie, Carbaugh, as MVP of the game.

The week of February 11th will be much quieter, as Verspeeten faces only one rival, welcoming once again a Tillsonburg team to Ingersoll’s ice.
