Tripping to Delhi - Nov 25, 2012
Skating to the centre of the ice for the pregame team greetings, the goalie for Delhi slipped and knocked down some his own players, along with some of the players for Verspeeten Cartage. This eventful start to the game brought smiles to the faces of the fans for both teams, and great sportsmanship among the audience.

The game began with Delhi in control. Verspeeten Cartage players may have been slowed a bit by the 6am practice they’d had that morning, but it sure didn’t stop them. The spirit of this team rose to the challenge, and they fought back against the Delhi juggernaut.

While both teams were at full strength, David Timleck was assisted by Graydon MacDonald and Kristopher Procter, beating the Delhi goalie and putting Verspeeten Cartage on the board.

Verspeeten Cartage held on and played hard against the Delhi team who lost a player to the three-penalty rule; meanwhile the Delhi goalie took a penalty when he was caught tripping the Verspeeten forward. This gave Verspeeten a two-man advantage for two minutes, and the team managed to pull a goal out of this situation - and what a goal! This writer watched as Kristopher Procter sent the puck to Jacob Branderhorst, who lost an edge, falling to his knees in front of the Delhi net; He maintained control of the puck, getting back to his skates and top-shelfing his shot to beat Delhi’s goalie for a second goal.

In spite of the final score showing Delhi at 4 and Verspeeten at 2, this game was enjoyed by the players and the fans alike.

Verspeeten's next game will put them against Burford here in Ingersoll, on December 3rd. Come on out and cheer on this great team!
