Your hometown Tirecraft Atom hockey team travelled to Waterford January 7 and came home with a 3-2 victory.

The team started slow and found itself down 1-0 early in the first. Ingersoll would tie the game midway through the first with a goal from Camden McDougall assisted by Ryan Bruschetto and Brent Fewster. Tirecraft would take the lead late in the first when Will Jones passed from the corner to Colin Van Dyk in front of the net for a redirected goal. Colin Dench also drew an assist on the play. The second period was all Ingersoll. Several players had chances but could not increase the lead. In the third, Shaun Holt gained the zone and passed to McDougall who skated a lap around the Waterford net and fired a wrist shot that deflected off Jones to make the score 3-1. A couple of penalties put Ingersoll in trouble late in the game, but the team would not allow Waterford to score.
Symon Hutcheson and AP call up Owen Longlade were notably effective killing off the penalties. Megan Longlade was strong in net for Tirecraft giving her team confidence with her strong play.
