Thursday October 20th, Caledonia Thunder showed up confident in Ingersoll being used to dominating in previous years. After watching the Ingersoll novice rep team enjoy a win, McNiven Insurance Atom Rep Team braced for action.
In back and forth action in the 1st period, the Thunder drew first blood with 4:01 left on the clock. Shortly after, Riley Ellis fed Clayton “Stovebolt” Hammond which he put in the net to end the first period 1-1.
The 2nd period had the spectators standing knee deep in fingernails as the boys fought it out playing as a single entity. Caledonia snuck one in and took the lead 2-1. Justin Holmes made a run up the ice, almost tying it but hit the post. With 6:36 left, Riley Ellis put one on the tape of Keegan Clark which he capitalized on putting the rebound in a place the Keebler Elves only dream of reaching, tie game 2-2.
As the 2nd period charged on, the clock hit 3:23 and Clayton Hammond hit the net with a shot that rebound dead into the path of Keegan Clark which he buried in the mesh, 3-2. At 2:21 the Thunder tied it back up. Great job from Ethan Emerson moving from defence to wing to fill a void. The Score remained unchanged as our defence held them in third with a great job by winger, Brennan Rupert on the fore-check.
Jayden Purdy stood strong in the net on the penalty kill and in 4 on 4 action with a stellar save that left their centre in awe.
Great game!
