Thursday, November 11th saw the Tirecraft Atoms travel to Simcoe. Unfortunately, the team was small in number as not many players were able to attend. Those who did show for the game played harder than this writer has ever seen them play. Still, Tirecraft, with all the heart and energy they could pull from deep inside themselves, were no match for the Simcoe team who had a full roster of players to rest between shifts.
The final score on the board was 6 for Simcoe, and 0 for Tirecraft.
Sunday, November 14th was the day Six Nations came to town. Tirecraft welcomed the team with all their skills and know-how flaring. The Six Nations team brought their own skills to bare and as the puck dropped, the game was on!
The ice was sticky and players on both teams were challenged to make the puck slide smoothly around the rink. Jonathen Landsborough creatively employed soccer moves at one point to clear the puck out of the Tirecraft zone.
Sticky ice or not, both teams found the back of their opponents' nets more than a couple of times. Period one had Tirecraft scoring a goal when number 5, Camden McDougall, found the Six Nations net. Also in that period, with an assist by Brodi Carbaugh, Jonathen Landsborough tied the game at 2.
The third period saw Six Nations ahead, but that was a problem rectified by Camden McDougall and Bram O'Connor who both slipped the puck past the Six Nations goalie. Meanwhile, Connor Young-Craig worked his magic throughout the game to bring an end to a losing streak with a very exciting tie game. Final score was 4 – 4.
A great game played by Tirecraft! Their next battle will be fought in Delhi on Thursday, November 18th, at 6pm. Come out and support the team!
