Tirecraft Ingersoll Atom LL hosted Waterford today. This writer was near the home team bench, and witnessed an amazing buzz of activity on the bench as the coaches prepped players before sending them into battle while a stream of temporarily spent players made their way onto the bench for well-deserved rest.
Tirecraft was fully engaged in the game. The defence was unforgiving, the offence was strong and the skating was tremendous. Waterford scored first, but spirits lifted as Tirecraft put a goal into the Waterford net to tie up the score at 1 – 1 in the second period. Anthony Ziraldo, who was sporting a handsome number 9 (usually wearing number 4) poked the puck past the Waterford goalie following a pass up from one of Tirecraft's excellent defensive players.
Alas, the game was not meant to be a win as Waterford pulled out their Ninja puck and slipped one underneath the Tirecraft goalie – the final score was 3 to 1 for Waterford.
Regardless of the score, this writer – and probably everyone watching – found this to be a very exciting game! Well played Tirecraft!
Tirecraft Atoms will face their rivals in Simcoe on November 11th at 6pm, in Talbot Gardens Arena. Do come out and support the team!
