Another excellent game in the books
Thursday, February 3, the Searles Motor Products Novice Rep team took to the ice in Glanbrook for a match against the host Glanbrook Rangers as part of the OMHA Playoff Round Robin.  A win would assure the Express a spot in the elimination round of the playoffs, and the boys new it was a big game.

Glanbrook opened the scoring early in the first period, putting the puck past a diving Logan White.  Ingersoll answered right back though, on a nice goal by Brennan Rupert over the goalie's shoulder, right off the draw won by Nolan Adkins.  Ingersoll then went up 2-1 with a goal by Ethan Emerson.  A late period drive by Ingersoll did not see any more goals, and the teams switched ends with the score 2-1.
Glanbrook tied it up on a deflection in front of White in the 2nd, but Ingersoll continued to press.  Constant pressure on the Glanbrook goalie was unable to produce any goals in the second period though.
The third period saw a change of netminders for Ingersoll, but the same result.  Gabe Robinson made some great saves against the Glanbrook forwards, along with getting some help from his defence.  Ingersoll continued their offense in the Glanbrook zone, and on a nice dump in by Nolan Adkins, which was retrieved by Rupert and fed in front to Emerson for the go ahead goal, Ingersoll again went up 3-2.  The excitement continued, with the Ingersoll kids and parents knowing that they could beat Glanbrook.  Midway through the third period, Glanbrook tied it up again, but the Searles Motor Products kids did not give up.  They continued the pressure, but you could see that they were starting to get tired.  The team just wasn't able to put it past the Glanbrook keeper again, and the teams headed to overtime.
In the overtime Ingersoll had their chances, but it was not to be.  At the 6:00 minute mark Glanbrook got a breakaway, and was able to put it past Robinson on the backhand.  Glanbrook won, 4-3.
The Searles Motor Express Novice Rep deserve to be commended for the heart and spirit that they brought to the game, as well as the sportsmanship they showed in playing against a team who liked to bend some of the rules about contact.  Great game guys!!
The Searles Motor Products Novice Rep Ingersoll Express play next on Saturday, February 5, when they travel to Port Colborne to take on the Sailors.  A reminder to parents that the bus leaves at 10:30 am sharp.  The team will then practice Sunday morning, before hosting the Paris Wolfpack Sunday night at 7:00 pm.
