Battle of HWY 19
Coming off a much needed break in the schedule Ingersoll VPM returned to the ice to take on a tough Tillsonburg team.
Ingersoll came out fired up and was firing on all cylinders. A melee in front of the Tillsonburg net with all three Ingersoll forwards poking away at the puck resulted in a goal only 35 seconds into the game. Credit was give to #9 Brandt Klopher with assists to #16 Owen Nigh and #18 Carter Skevington. Ingersoll would continue the strong play to finish the period 1-0.
The second period started with Tillsonburg scoring off a bad bounce from a long shot that deflected off an Ingersoll defenseman's skate. This seemed to deflate the Ingersoll team and Tillsonburg jumped on the opportunity. The second period ended 3-1 for Tillsonburg.
Ingersoll had a few very good scoring opportunities and easily could have tied things up but Tillsonburg was able to add two late goals to secure a 5-1 win.
Tanner Belore made his first start in net for VPM and had a great performance. Tillsonburg played a good game and Ingersoll was right with them the whole time. A bad bounce and a couple late third period goals inflated the final score on an otherwise very competitive game. Great job boys
