LAST MINUTE HEROICS EARNS THE WIN
The Carmeuse Lime Ltd Juvenile Rep found themselves in a two-goal deficit to the visiting Tavistock Titans as the final minute of the first period counted down last night at the Ingersoll District Memorial Centre (IDMC).  That deficit was cut in half at 00:01, when #13 Tanner Shnickel, unassisted, put the puck past the Tavistock net-minder.

After allowing the Titans two successful powerplay opportunities in the first period, Ingersoll began to settle into a more disciplined style of play.  Each team would take only one penalty.  The Express would once again save the best until last as #15 Tyler Goyette, assisted by #2 Colin Wellar-Burgess, scored the only goal of the period at 39.8.

Each team had won a period and the score showed 2-2, as they returned to the ice for the third period. The final fifteen minutes were filled with pure hockey; there were no penalties.  Ingersoll’s net-minder Ryan Calder, who hadn’t allowed a goal since 7:26 of the first period, remained sharp as his team worked to create offensive opportunities.  Ingersoll’s efforts were rewarded at 42.4, when #18 Max Shelton, with some support from #8 Mitch Graham scored the final goal of the night, claiming the first regular season win for Carmeuse Lime Ltd Ingersoll Express Juvenile Rep.

Max Shelton, called up from the Unifor Local 88 Midget Rep team, joined LIVE Scott and Karen for the Carmeuse Lime Ltd PostGame Show.

IMG_E1184.JPGThe last-minute heroics weren’t only on the ice.  Just prior to the game, Luke Zegers, #3 for the Ingersoll Express, deposited a very generous donation into Karen’s skate on behalf of the team’s sponsor, Carmeuse Lime Ltd.   It was part of the LIVE with Scott and Karen’s THINK PINK CHALLENGE.

The THINK PINK CHALLENGE was a joint effort of the Unifor Local 88 Major Midget Rep team and the Carmeuse Lime Ltd Ingersoll Express Juvenile Rep Team.  The LIVE with Scott and Karen co-hosts made a challenge to teach other that there would be a consequence paid by the one with the lesser “skate-take”.  Last night that consequence was paid by Scott.  It was all in good fun and at the end of the evening the THINK PINK CHALLENGE raised $1,412.60, which will be added to IDMHA’s Think Pink donation to the Canadian Cancer Society-Oxford County.  Thanks to all who supported!
