On December 5th, the Ingersoll
Express Novice LL#1 Anderson Appliances team started a 4 game home stand
against the Norwich Knighthawks hoping to gain some much needed points in the
standings.
The game began on a positive note as Addisen. H made a great toe save on a shot by the Norwich team coming in hard. #6 Blake. K was on fire early with 2 breakaway opportunities in the 1st period trying to get something past the Norwich goalie. Unfortunately Norwich was the first to strike making the game 1-0 at the 7:10 minute mark. The Norwich team continued with the pressure and had the Ingersoll goalie beat, but defenseman #5 Drew. P came in from behind and used his stick to stop the puck on the line keeping Norwich off the board. Not long later though Norwich found a way to break through the Ingersoll defense and made the score 2-0.
In the 2nd period Ingersoll came out swinging with multiple chances on net but as luck would have it, they beat everything but the post and random Norwich sticks providing great back up to their goalie. Finally though at 8:29 #6 Brandt. K came in and scored to get Ingersoll on the board assisted by #18 Graeme. A and made the game 2-1. That goal must have angered the Norwich team as they wanted their lead back and were able to tally 2 more goals in the 2nd making the game 4-1 going into the 3rd.
In the 3rd it was Norwich who kept the pressure on and was able to score their 5th goal making it 5-1 and all but putting the game out of reach for Ingersoll. Then at the 9:15: mark #6 Brandt. K came back with a goal to make the score 5-2. Then Ingersoll started to put the pressure on and got back in the game with 2 more goals making it 5-4 with only 7:06 left to go. At this point Norwich was not giving up and tallied another goal which made the game 6-4. Ingersoll was able to get back within 1, with a goal stuffed in by #5 Drew. P assisted by #6 Brandt. K at the 0.01 mark, but as the buzzer sounded the score was 6-5 and Norwich came away with the win.
Unfortunately Ingersoll dropped another game and did not gain any ground in the standings but the team as a whole showed amazing resiliency and never gave up or conceded the victory to Norwich even when they were down by 4 goals.
Next Ingersoll goes up against one of their sibling teams on Nov 12th at home, the Novice LL #3 team who is off to a great start this season and should be a good test for the Anderson Appliances LL #1 group.
