Novice LL#1 Anderson Appliances Home Opener
On Monday October 16th, while Ontario was getting ready for the Blue Jays to play Game 3, all of Ingersoll was on the edge of their seats in anticipation of the season opening game for the Novice LL #1 Anderson Appliances hockey team. The season opener would be played against a fierce and talented Langton Leafs team who travelled to Ingersoll.

The scoring was opened up in the 1st for Ingersoll by #18 Graeme Arthur who had an incredible goal assisted by #5 Drew Piper and #16 Travis Newell that left the Langton goalie wishing he could have it back. Langton came back near the end of the 1st period and tied it up 1-1 with 3:23 to go. With just over 2 minutes to go, Ingersoll struck again, taking the lead back with an unassisted goal by #20, Ryan Wilson who buried the puck so deep in the back of the net that not even the referees could find it at first.

The second period both teams were held off the score sheet, Langton couldn’t get anything past Ingersoll’s #6 Brandt Kloepfer who was on fire between the pipes. Brandt was at the peak of his play, getting his paddle on everything and making a few dandy saves with the glove. In the 3rd period, Ingersoll came out strong with #15, Charlotte Riley sneaking an unassisted laser of a shot past the Langton Leafs goalie putting the score to 3-1. After a few more minutes of some hard played hockey from both sides, Ingersoll’s #4, Mason Durham closed the doors on any possible comeback from Langton with a goal at the 4:30 minute mark assisted by #20 Ryan Wilson for his 2nd point of the night along with #3 Kyle Verhoeven.

It was a beauty of a start to the season for the Novice LL#1 Anderson Appliances team who are now 1-0-0 going into their Saturday October 22nd game against the Burford Coyotes.
