Anderson Appliance 3 game wrap up
The Anderson Appliance team have recorded 2 wins and 1 loss over the past 3 games.  We played the Tillsonburg Tornadoes #2 team on Friday Jan 22nd in Tillsonburg and came home with a 6-3 loss.  Next we welcomed the Simcoe Warriors #1 team on Tuesday Jan 6th and pulled off a 2-0 in our home rink.  Finally we hosted the Tillsonburg Tornadoes #1 team on Saturday Jan 30th and kept the opposing scorers off the board with a 3-0 win!

Unfortunately my employer doesn't think "Ingersoll Novice Hockey Reporter" is a viable reason to miss work so I'll try and give the scores of the first 2 games and a recap from my son's description of how we played.
We lost 6-3 in Tillsonburg on the Friday with #6 Kylah Demers putting on the pads to try her hand as goalie. Tillsonburg put up 4 quick goals in the first period and 2 goals in the second while #9 Noah Muller got a hat trick for Ingersoll with #14 Dylan Craib and #19 Tanner Belore adding an assist.  Me - "Owen how did we play"? Owen - "Well, it was Kylah's first try in net so it wasn't her fault we lost.  We didn't play good at the beginning, just skating all over the place but we played better at the end of the game and they didn't score at all in the 3rd period".

Ingersoll hosted the Simcoe Warriors #1 next and posted a 2-0 win.  #5 Riley Vyse was back in net getting the shut out and #9 Noah Muller put in both goals with #4 Brady Lamers and #19 Tanner Belore getting assists.  Me - "Owen how did play"?  Owen - "We played awesome, everybody played awesome so that's how we won"!  Me - "So Owen, what did we do that was so awesome"?  Owen - "mostly the offence and the defence and Riley played good too".  Well, that's an 8 year olds game break down....

We then hit the road and faced the Tillsonburg Tornadoes #1 team on Saturday and posted a score of 3-0!  This game was all about defence and Riley Vyse had boring first period in net facing only 1 weak shot from the corner.  Ingersoll really put the pressure on the Tillsonburg goalie who played and exceptional game facing multiple shots for most of the first period.  Tillsonburg seemed trapped in their own end for minutes at a time as the Ingersoll defence held that blue line and the forwards dug the pucks out of the corners.  The first period ended with a  0-0 tie.  The second period was a bit more even with Tillsonburg doing a better job of clearing the puck and moving it down to the Ingersoll end of the ice.  #19 Tanner Belore showed some great effort on the back check after Tillsonburg found a player at the red line behind the defence.  Tanner chased the player down and lifted his stick before a shot could be released.  The Tillsonburg player must of been unhappy with Tanner and followed him to the corner and tripped him up with his stick.  This put Ingersoll on the power play.  Ingersoll continued to hold the puck in the Tillsonburg end and #14 Dylan Craib took a shot from the side boards that found it's way through the defence man and the screened goalie didn't even see the puck cross the line at 6:59!  Way to shoot the puck Dylan!  The rest of the period was a little sloopy for teams with each side taking tripping penalties and lots of standing still.  The horn sounded to end the period 1-0.  The third period started with some end to end rushes and #5 Riley Vyse was finally put to the test and made the saves when he needed to.  The goal post was also on his side this game and gave a favourable bounce on a rare misplay of the puck.  #8 Alex Stratton had some open ice in front of him and made a great rush down the ice but the goalie made the stop on all 3 of his shots.  Alex did a great job of following his shot and almost banged in his own rebound.  The end to end play continued as the players started getting tired and #9 Noah Muller found himself on a break away and made a nice move to slide the puck behind the diving goalie!  This put Ingersoll up 2-0 and the excellent defensive play continued for the rest of the period.  Ingersoll found the penalty box in the last minute of play after a tangle up behind the net.  Tillsonburg pulled the goalie to add an extra attacker but after a few chances in the Ingersoll zone #8 Alex Stratton took the puck and made no mistakes, riding the puck straight into the net with 8 seconds to go!  Great game Ingersoll!
