Delhi Hockey Moms' Tournament Final vs. Port Stanley
It was Anderson Appliance vs. Port Stanley in the tournament final Sunday afternoon and it was a rollercoaster!  The game was everything you would want from a final, going down to the final seconds to determine the champion.  It was the second meeting of the weekend and Port Stanley came away from the first with a win.  The Anderson Appliance team had this memory fresh in their mind and knew it was time for some revenge.

The game was played in front of a packed stands full of family and friends who cheered mightily for their respective squads.  Both teams entered the game full of energy knowing it all came down to this last game.  Port Stanley took the opening puck drop and cruised down the ice looking to put some points on the score board.  Ingersoll forced the puck to boards on a number of occasions but could not seem to clear the zone.  It didn't take long before the puck was sent to the net and the rebound was banged home at 8:55.  Port Stanley was up early and it looked like this was going to be a repeat game from Friday night.  They play continued in the Ingersoll end of the ice and shots seemed to come from everywhere.  #5 Riley Vyse was between the pipes and really stepped up his game making some unbeleivable saves.  The rest of the team also rose to the challenge and forced the puck to the other end of the ice by sheer determination.  It wasn't always pretty but Ingersoll managed some puck control and won the battles along the boards.  #6 Kylah Demers really stepped up her game and didn't give Port Stanley an easy inch of the ice.  Great effort Kylah!  #7 Carson Ling had a great game and put himself in good position to score on a few occasions. The puck seemed to be just out of reach.  This team effort payed off at 4:39 when #9 Noah Muller intercepted a pass and jammed the puck under a diving goalie!  Great goal Noah!  That tied the game at 1 a piece and it remained that way until the horn sounded to end period.
The second period started with a bang when #15 Logan Pare took the puck down the right hand side of the ice and ripped the puck off the goalies face mask and into the back of net at 9:26!  Awesome goal Logan! Ingersoll took the lead and the fans really came alive with cheers, horns and everything in between.  Port Stanley tried to quiet the crowd but Riley make a nice glove save and the cheers continued.  The play continued to go back and forth and both goalies showed why their teams where in the finals.  Ingersoll was really pressing the puck in the offensive zone but after a little mix up on defence the Port Stanley's sniper #4 Parker Daughan found himself on a break away and fired home his second goal of the game at 2:43.  It was a tough break for Ingersoll but there was lots of game left.  In the final seconds of the period the puck was passed up the ice by #4 Brady Lamers and #6 Kylah Demers to #9 Noah Muller who fired the puck between two defenders and scored with 9 seconds on the clock!  Awesome team effort put Ingersoll in the lead and period ended with a score of 3-2
With the crowd rocking the arena the Ingersoll team charged down the ice from the face off and took several shots on the Port Stanley net.  #9 Noah Muller found his own rebound that slid to the corner and make a beautiful pass to #4 Brady Lamers who was parked in front of the net to slam home the one-timer!  That was a highlight reel play and Brady's goal puts Ingersoll up 4-2.  That was awesome team work Brady and Noah!   Port Stanley came roaring back and really put Riley to the test.  The Ingersoll defence had to always be aware of the well positioned Port Stanley players in front of the net looking for the rebound.  Every play was a battle and fatigue was starting to set in.  With 2 minutes on the clock Port Stanley double shifted their sniper with the puck deep in the Ingersoll zone.  The Ingersoll players had a hard time winning the battles and Port Stanley's #4 rang up his hat trick with a nice goal at 1:37.  This cut the lead to 4-3.  Ingersoll regrouped and dug deep for the final minutes of the game.  Port Stanley was buzzing the net and nearly scored twice.  The first chance glanced off Riley's stick up on the handle sending the puck just over the cross bar and the second shot was just a few inch's high as well.  The crowd was going crazy counting down the seconds that seemed to take for ever.  The horn blew and the Ingersoll team was victorious!  Congratulations to the players and coaches for an awesome win and an enjoyable weekend had by players and parents.
