Petrolia Oilers Denied Drilling Rights
The Petrolia Oilers were in town last night with hopes of drilling a winning game at the Ingersoll District Memorial Centre.    Carmeuse Lime Ltd had no intention of allowing that to happen. At 10:51 of the first period, Carmeuse forward #9 Ryan Cooper, with the support of #14 Chris Dimmers and #5 Riley Jayne, posted the first goal of the game on the scoreboard.

Petrolia would answer with a fevered offensive assault of their own; however Carmeuse net-minder #1 Carson Rachar proved he was more than ready for the challenge, stopping the barrage of shots before his defense could clear the puck.   At 6:08 of the first period, Dimmers and #11 John Ryan would assist #2 Jesse Carew in making the score 2-0.  Just a little over two minutes later, Carmeuse would be given a four minute power-play opportunity, when Petrolia received a head contact penalty.  It would be an opportunity missed.

1016_PETR1.jpgDuring the final four minutes of the first period and throughout the second, Carmeuse looked like a team struggling to find their legs and it is understandable as three of their players are out with injuries.

Earlier in the week, Carmeuse learned that #20 Devin Freeman would be out for an indefinite amount of time, due to injuries sustained away from the hockey rink.  He will now join Tanner Moon and Jason Arts as they watch from the team’s private box.

With three players out the of the lineup, Ben Jentz, forward for Louie’s Pizza and Pasta (Bantam Rep) Ingersoll Express, would get the call-up to play with Carmeuse in Thursday’s game.

As the third period got underway, the score was tied at 2.  Carmeuse appeared rested and started the period strong.  Jentz, wearing #7, earned his spot on the game’s score-sheet when he and #4 Zach Catry combined to assist #10 Aaron Lonsberry in making the score 3-2.  The lead would be short-lived as Petrolia would answer with one of their own, making the final score 3-3.

ADDENDUM—THIS JUST IN!

Carmeuse Lime Ltd is on the road today at the Lincoln Blades All-Star Fall Challenge tournament, where they played the Cambridge Hawks at 11:00 AM.  The game ended in a 3-3 tie.  Details to follow in a later blog.
