Ingersoll Brokerlink Dump Simcoe Warriors
On Sunday March 1st, your Ingersoll Brokerlink Express team travelled to Simcoe. Ingersoll would have their way with the Warriors and go on to dump them 8-3. It is difficult not to mention the officials in this game after witnessing the developments during the second and third periods when things got out of hand. Fifty-two minutes in penalty minutes were handed out as both teams filled the sin bin, mostly in the third period.

There should have been more as the Simcoe team attempted to lure the Brokerlink team into retaliation penalties. Brody Nurse was drilled from behind with two remaining in the second as the officials turned the other way. The Simcoe coach could be seen congratulating his players for their raucous play when he was not having a fit on the bench regarding the officiating.

Kaleb Kloepfer opened the scoring for Ingersoll when he fired a shot from the point two minutes into the game. With just over four to play in the opening period, Gavin Bryant scored on a great solo effort to give Ingersoll a 2-0 lead. Ingersoll starting goalie Jeremy Hardeman was excellent in the first with a tremendous effort to keep the Warriors off the score sheet.

Three minutes into the second, Simcoe scored on a shot from the corner that was deflected past Hardy. Just over a minute later, Bryant won a faceoff in the Simcoe zone. Evan Hopson won the battle for the puck and fired a shot past the Simcoe net minder. Hardeman made several saves with five minutes to play in the period before pouncing on the puck for a whistle. From the next faceoff, Hardy again makes three huge saves and appeared to freeze the puck. For several seconds the Simcoe forwards were allowed to hack and chop at Hardy until the puck crossed the line.  One minute later while on the power play, Ingersoll would increase their lead to 4-2.  Bryant made a pass to the point to Alex Schuett who quickly converted the puck cross ice to Seth “fingers” Hedges. Fingers fired a rocket from the blue line that bent the twine in the Simcoe cage. With two minutes left in the period, Nurse was nailed from behind into the boards with no call on the play.

Carter Spence relieved Hardeman in the Ingersoll goal for the third. One minute into the period, Owen Longlade gave Ingersoll a 5-2 lead after depositing a rebound into the Simcoe net. Nurse and Cohen Belore assisted on the goal. Thirty seconds later Ingersoll scored again. The scorer cannot be identified as the game sheet was not provided by team officials. Nurse scored with ten to play when he found the rebound from a Hedges point shot. With eight to play, Cohen Alexander deflected a shot/pass from the Simcoe corner, giving Ingersoll an 8-2 lead.

The rest of the game became a gong show as the officials lost control of the play. Three players at a time were escorted to the penalty box. The game became delayed as officials tried to remember why the players were in the penalty box. Spence made a number of saves for the Brokerlink Boys while Simcoe somehow enjoyed a 4-on-3 advantage late in the game. Simcoe managed to score again as the clock was running down. Final score Ingersoll 8-Simcoe 3.
