Ingersoll Brokerlink Express Atoms Win OMHA Title
Your Ingersoll Brokerlink Express Atom Rep team swept Kincardine in three straight games to win the OMHA Atom B Championship on March 26th. The old barn on Mutual was buzzing with excitement in anticipation of a championship being awarded on this night. With the Cup in the building and standing room only, the boys took to the ice with fire in their eyes. Ingersoll dominated the Kinucks in games one and two; this game would be no different.

Carter Spence received the start in goal for Ingersoll in front of a loud and proud home town crowd. The Ingersoll goalie would not be overworked as the Express offensive machine went full throttle at Kincardine sending shot after shot on the Kinuck goal. AP call up Jack Wolfe was inserted into the game for Ingersoll.

Owen Longlade opened the scoring on the power play when he pounced on a rebound to give Ingersoll a 1-0 lead. Gavin Bryant and Tye House received assists on the opening goal. The next shift, Brody Nurse banged in a rebound after Cohen Belore fired the shot on goal. Kaleb Kloepfer started the play. Two minutes later as the hometown team continued to fire away, Braden Wright sent a point shot to the net that was tipped in by Alex Schuett giving Ingersoll a 3-0 lead. With just over a minute to play in the period, Spence made two great saves as Kincardine came to life. The Kinucks won the battle for a rebound and were on the board.

Twenty seconds into the middle period, Belore delivered a great pass to Longlade who ripped a shot to the back of the Kinuck net for his second of the night. Nurse also received an assist on the goal. One and a half minutes later, Evan Hopson increased the lead when he whacked in a rebound. Bryant and Seth Hedges received assists. With just under ten to play in the second, the Kincardine bench doors start to slam in frustration. Undisciplined penalties by the Kinuck players continued for the remainder of the period. With the man advantage and sometimes two, Ingersoll displayed their precision passing to dominate puck possession. Ingersoll defenseman Benham Martin sent a number of bombs from the point in the second and had a heavy shot all series. Just before the announcer called one minute left in the period, Schuett scored his second when he found another Kinuck rebound. Hopson and Bryant received the assists.

The third was all Ingersoll with the championship in sight and the Kinucks just plain worn out. Jeremy Hardeman replaced Spence between the Ingersoll pipes. One minute into the third, Cohen Alexander was crosschecked in the neck out front of the Kincardine goal. Belore came to the defence of his team mate and was assessed a roughing minor along with the Kinuck player. Belore would score a hardworking goal with just under ten to play when he stole the puck at the Kincardine blue line and wired a shot to the top corner that gave Ingersoll a 7-1 advantage. One minute later, Hedges sent a bouncing shot from the point that hopped over the Kinuck goaltenders’ right pad. Cohen Alexander made it 9-1 Ingersoll with a hard wrist shot short side with five to go. Belore and Hopson received assists on the goal. One minute later Bryant was nailed deep in the Kinuck zone. Longlade responded to the culprit and was assessed two for roughing along with the Kinuck player. Schuett completed the hat trick with two to play when he and House put on a passing clinic inside the Kinuck blue line. Adam VanDyk received an assist on the final goal. When the buzzer sounded, the Ingersoll bench erupted and the players spilled onto the ice in celebration. With the OMHA title now in hand, the Brokerlink Boys now directed their attention to the Southern County crown that features a final between the OMHA BB Champ Tillsonburg versus the OMHA B Champ Ingersoll squads. All “A” pool championship games were played in Six Nations this season on March 29th.

The Ingersoll Brokerlink Boys are now 2014-2015 OMHA Atom B Champions.
