Brokerlink Boys Advance to OMHA Finals
Electricity filled the air in the old barn on Mutual Street Thursday Feb. 26th as your hometown Brokerlink Express hockey team hosted the Lambeth Lancers. With an opportunity to close out the series on home ice, the Brokerlink Boys took to the ice with confidence that this was their time. The Express won convincingly in games one and two, but were stunned in game three when Lambeth scored four goals in one and a half minutes near the end of the second period and hung on for the win. On this night, Ingersoll prevailed, delivering a 6-2 KO victory over a hard working, no quit Lancer team.

Your Ingersoll Brokerlink Express hockey club has advanced to the OMHA Atom B finals and will play the winner of the Kincardine/Parry Sound series. Dates and times for the finals will be announced upon completion of the northern series.

Carter Spence received the start in goal for Ingersoll in game four and would go all the way with an excellent performance. Spence made his first save of the game thirty seconds in as Lambeth rushed the Ingersoll defence. Tye House opened the scoring with five minutes left in the period after Gavin Bryant won an offensive faceoff and charged to the Lambeth goal. House pounded in the loose puck to give Ingersoll a 1-0 lead. One minute later, Kaleb “Special K” Kloepfer stole the puck at center ice. Kloepfer crossed the Lancer blue line and ripped a hard wrist shot to the top corner giving Ingersoll a 2-0 lead. Bryant shredded the Lambeth defence and scored with two minutes left on the clock to increase Ingersoll’s lead to 3-0.

In the second, Ingersoll had a great start to the period with an excellent scoring chance on the first shift. Spence made a huge save three minutes into the period to keep Lambeth off the score sheet. With eight to play in the second, Ingersoll swarmed the Lambeth zone in an attempt to increase their lead. Bryant’s shot was saved, but the rebound was buried in the net by Brody Nurse. Braden Wright received an assist on the goal. A chip shot by Bryant deflected off a Lambeth defender with fewer than six to play in the period that increased Ingersoll’s lead to 5-0. Owen Longlade and Adam VanDyk assisted on the goal. Two minutes later, Alex Schuett delivered a highlight reel end to end rush but was denied by the Lambeth goalie. The Ingersoll power play went to work in the final minutes of the period. Schuett sent a saucer pass to Bryant who was parked at the side of the Lambeth net. Bryant fired the puck to the top corner to complete the hat trick and give Ingersoll a commanding 6-0 lead.

Lambeth broke the shutout bid by Spence three minutes into the third while on the power play. Despite being down 6-1, Lambeth would not quit. The Lancers scored another goal with just over ten to play to cut the Ingersoll lead to 6-2. Ingersoll tightened up defensively the rest of the way to ensure there would be no Lambeth comeback. Seth Hedges rang a shot off the post with three to play when Ingersoll hemmed Lambeth in their zone for an extended time. As the final buzzer sounded, the Brokerlink Boys spilled onto the ice from the bench and raced to Spence in celebration. Forwards Cohen Belore, Cohen Alexander and Evan Hopson all had a strong game. Defenseman Benham Martin played a solid game on the backend for Ingersoll. Jeremy Hardeman was on the bench for this game and has been instrumental in these Ontario playdowns.
