Lambeth Avoid Elimination in Game Three Win over Ingersoll
The Lambeth Lancers avoided elimination Tuesday Feb. 24th by winning game three at home and avoiding a sweep by your Ingersoll Brokerlink Express team. Despite being down 5-2 to your powerhouse Ingersoll squad to end the first period, Lambeth would not quit. The Lancers scored five goals in the second and hung on to defeat Ingersoll 7-6 to force another game. The winner of this series advances to the OMHA finals. The Lancers and Ingersoll have had some memorable games this season; Thursday Feb. 26th at the Memorial Centre will no doubt be another. Evan though Ingersoll blew out Lambeth in games one and two, these are two equally talented teams that have their sights on the Ontario championship.

Wearing their black road jerseys, the Brokerlink boys took to the ice with an opportunity to eliminate the Lancers. Jeremy Hardeman was given the start in goal for Ingersoll. On the power play six minutes into the game, Seth Hedges received a pass from Alex Schuett at the point. Hedges fired a shot that Tye House managed to tip into the net for a 1-0 Ingersoll lead. Two minutes later the lethal Ingersoll power play went to work again. Hedges made a pass through the neutral zone to Owen Longlade who entered the Lambeth zone and ripped a shot past the Lambeth net minder for a 2-0 Ingersoll lead. Eighteen seconds later, Schuett threw a wrister on goal that found a seam and Ingersoll had a 3-0 advantage. Kaleb Kloepfer assisted on the goal. Lambeth were in shock both on the bench and in the stands.

The Lancers called time-out to regroup. Twenty seconds from the faceoff, Schuett rang a hard wrist shot off the crossbar as Lambeth could not clear their zone. With four minutes left in the opening period, Lambeth scored on a rebound after Hardeman made a great save. Less than a minute later, Lambeth scored again, this time on the power play to cut Ingersoll’s lead to 3-2. One minute later, Hedges fired another rocket from the point on the power play. Gavin Bryant found the rebound and buried the puck in the net to restore the two goal lead for Ingersoll. The final minute was wild. Hardeman made a great catcher save and two excellent pad saves with thirty seconds on the clock. Ingersoll raced down the ice and scored with 11.2 seconds remaining.      Five minutes into the second, Bryant made a no-look between the legs pass to Schuett on the doorstep that Schooey easily converted to give Ingersoll a commanding 6-2 lead. At the seven minute mark, Lambeth scored on a power play to cut the lead in half. Refusing to throw in the towel, the Lancers gained some momentum from the pp goal and forged on. The Ingersoll power play created many chances with five minutes left in the period, but could not increase the lead. This was the turning point of the game. A Lancer goal with three left in the period was the beginning of a four goal outburst against Ingersoll in a minute and a half. With two and a half on the clock, Lambeth won the battle in front of the Ingersoll goal and scored. Now 6-5 Ingersoll, Hardeman was relieved by Carter Spence. Thirty seconds later, Ingersoll turned the puck over in their zone and Lambeth capitalized to even the score. Another thirty seconds later, Lambeth fired a hard wrist shot to the top corner of the Ingersoll net to that gave the Lancers a 7-6 lead. This was an incredible comeback by the Lancers who refuse to quit.

Three minutes into the third, Lambeth had a two man advantage for over a minute. Spence made a couple of great saves to prevent Lambeth from increasing their lead. Schuett burst out of the penalty box for a great chance that was denied. The potent Ingersoll power play was unable to connect in the third as the Lambeth defence stepped up to the challenge.
