Double Header with Tillsonburg
Thamesford Pizza faced Tillsonburg for a double header January 19th and 20th.
The 19th brought Tillsonburg to Ingersoll's ice where the heat was on, in spite of the cold ice. Both teams were carving the ice for 50 minutes.
Tillsonburg's goalie was faced with a barrage of flaming pucks, as was Thamesford Pizza's goalie, Connor Young-Craig. Young-Craig had a great performance against the Tillsonburg Bantam team. Read on!
Thamesford Pizza opened the scoring within the first minute of play - after only 27 seconds, Craig Wild received the puck from Justin Burns and tucked it away behind Tillsonburg's goalie.
Austin George continued the Thamesford Pizza's scoring, with assistance from Matt Debruyn and Justin Burns in the second period.
Tillsonburg managed to slip one into the back of the Thamesford Pizza net once in the second period. That would be their only goal of the game, however as they were just not match for Young-Craig.
Meanwhile, Ingersoll's Thamesford Pizza offensive and defensive lines worked their magic again in the third period, when Tyler Debruyn took the opportunity to score an unassisted goal.
The end of this game would find Tillsonburg taking home a loss, with a score of 3 to 1 for Thamesford Pizza.
Monday, the 20th, Thamesford Pizza travelled to Tillsonburg's ice for the second of their double header.
Jacob Branderhorst took two goals with assistance from Hayden Homewood, Justin Burns and Anthony Ziraldo, while Tillsonburg capitalized on some turn-over opportunities to put the puck inside Ingersoll's net.
The game would end in a tie with each team taking home two goals. A fitting end to a great double-header match-up.
