Louie's Focused on Championship Hockey Success
Louie’s Pizza and Pasta ended their first round of O.M.H.A. Play Downs, as they silenced the Caledonia Thunder with a shut-out score of 5-0, Thursday January 23 in Caledonia.  Louie’s net-minder #30 Ryan Calder was greeted at the net by his team-mates as they celebrated the shut-out win. The celebration would be short as players, coaches and fans collectively turned their focus to the International Silver Stick Tournament, January 24 through 26, in Forest at the Shores Recreational Complex.

Following their Friday night loss to Carleton Place, Louie’s was back on the ice early Saturday morning, well-prepared to face-off against the Lambton Shores Predators at 6:45.  Early morning games appear to agree with Louie’s.  At 6:39, #11 Kyle Rachar, with some help from #16 Tanner Moon, put Louie’s on the board.  Two minutes later, #7 Tyler Arts and #6 Eric Savoie would lend their services to #2 Colin Weller-Burgess, to make the score 2-0 for Louie’s.  Lambton Shores would get the puck past Louie’s net-minder, #30 Ryan Calder at 14:19 of the second period.  Late in the third period, Savoie and Tasker would once again lend their offensive services, this time to #16 Tanner Moon, who would score final goal of the game, earning Louie’s the 3-1 win.

Focus_3.JPGLater that day, Louie’s net-minder, #1 Noah Robinson, claimed his crease as his team took their place at centre ice for the 2:35 PM face-off against Atlanta.  At 7:59 of the first period, Louie’s #10 Aaron Lonsberry, assisted by #5 Riley Jayne and #2 Colin Weller-Burgess, would score the first goal of the game.  When #11 Kyle Rachar put the puck on the stick of #15 Tyler Goyette, it resulted in Louie’s second and final goal of the period at 2:36.  Sam Tasker, #18, and Eric Savoie, #6, would lend their services to #17 Ryan Cooper, who would make the score 3-0 at 6:18 of the second period.  Louie’s power line of Savoie, Arts and Cooper would combine their efforts at 14:42 of the third period, putting one more on the board for Louie’s.  One minute later, #16 Tanner Moon would expertly place a solo shot in the Atlanta net.  Using precision passing and sharp skating skill, Louie’s would put three more goals on the board.  Weller-Burgess would help Lonsberry get his second for the game at 13:01.  At 11:35 the line of Savoie, Cooper and Tasker combined for their second.  Goyette and #8 Brady Shapton would lend their services to Moon who scored the final goal at 10:39, earning Louie’s an 8-0 shut-out win.  The team would now play in the Semi-Final game, Sunday morning at 9:30.

Throughout the entire weekend, driving conditions would make it difficult getting to the Shores Recreational Complex.  Even this weather would not deter the fans of Louie’s Pizza and Pasta who were there to support their favourite team.  Joining the Louie’s fans were the 2013-2014 International Silver Stick Atom Finalists, Ingersoll’s own BrokerLink Atom Rep.

Focus_2.JPGOn this day it was Louie’s #30 Ryan Calder who would claim the crease as he watched his team face-off at centre ice against Listowel.  As the final minute of the first period counted down, Listowel’s #2 would somehow find a way around Calder, putting Listowel on the board.  At 4:11 of the second period, Louie’s #10 Aaron Lonsberry, assisted by #2 Colin Weller-Burgess and #5 Riley Jayne, put Louie’s on the board.  Calder continued to stand firm in his crease, denying the strong Listowel offense.  At the time of the game’s final buzzer the score remained 1-1; there would be overtime to determine the winner.  The winner was determined at 4:47, when Listowel’s #2 Lucas Jamieson, would, for the second time, somehow find a small opening around Calder.  Louie’s Pizza and Pasta would return home as 2013-2014 International Silver Stick Semi-Finalists.

Louie’s is now focused on the next round of O.M.H.A. Play Downs, where they will meet the Tillsonburg Tornadoes.  Schedule has yet to be finalized.  Please visit Schedule & Results for full schedule details.
