Taking a Closer Look at First Place
Last night's loss to the Tavistock Titans is the third loss for Louie's Pizza and Pasta in as many games. Despite these three straight losses, Louie's Pizza and Pasta remains in first place in their bid to be number 1 in Southern Counties Playoffs.  Over the past two weeks, Louie’s has shown focus and commitment throughout a very busy playoff schedule.

With four playoff wins to their credit, Louie’s Pizza and Pasta earned the win against hometown Six Nations on Sunday, March 2.   The next night, Six Nations arrived at the Ingersoll District Memorial Centre, determined to claim the win.  Louie's Pizza and Pasta was filled with a determination of their own, playing three periods of focused hockey, denying Six Nations in their bid for the win.

Louie’s was playing their disciplined team-oriented style of hockey.  There was no doubt that each player knew their role when the team took to the ice on March 6, when Louie’s hosted the Glanbrook Rangers.  These two teams are no strangers, they met twice during regular be season; both games were in Glanbrook and Louie’s Pizza and Pasta claimed the win each time.  It would end differently this night as the Rangers administered Louie’s their first playoff loss.

Three days later, Louie’s would once again spend their Sunday afternoon on the road; this time in Tavistock.  This would be different than the Sunday before when they claimed the win in Six Nations, as Louie’s would find their roster shorter due to March Break, injury and a suspension.  On this Sunday they would not take the win home.  Louie’s would suffer back-to-back losses to Tavistock, when Tavistock claimed the win last night.

At time of posting, Louie’s Pizza and Pasta is in first place with 12 points and a record of 6-3-0.  The Tavistock Titans follow very closely with 12 points of their own and a record of 6-4-0.   The Glanbrook Rangers, also with 12 points and their record of 5-3-2.

The 2013-2014 Southern Counties Playoffs are too close to call.  With only three scheduled games remaining on their schedule, you can be sure that Louie’s will be focused on returning to their winning ways to ensure their spot in the final tournament.
