Still Lots of Hockey
Louie’s Pizza and Pasta hosted the first-place Tillsonburg Tornadoes last night at the Ingersoll District Memorial Arena.  From the time of the game opening face-off until the period-ending buzzer, fans were treated to a high level of well-executed hockey, the score 0-0.

Louie’s high level of play continued into the second period.  The team remained focused and strong.  It was obvious the team learned from their sluggish effort and loss in Burford just four nights prior.

As the third period got underway, Louie’s was in a three goal deficit.  For the final fifteen minutes of the game, Louie’s would stay focused on putting the puck on the other side of the Tillsonburg goal line, but it just would not happen.  Despite strong effort by Louie’s, the Tornadoes would score two more goals and claim the 5-0 win.

Following the game, Louie’s assistant coach Jeff Shapton met with the media.  Even though the team lost, Shapton was satisfied with his team’s effort.  “Tillsonburg is a really, really good team.  There is a reason they are in first place.”  When asked about the team’s three-game losing streak, Shapton was undaunted and very upbeat as he replied, “There is still lots of hockey left.  We are already looking forward to the next game.”

Louie’s will practice tonight and again Friday night as they prepare for their next game, 8:00 PM Saturday at the Ingersoll District Memorial Arena against the Port Dover Pirates.
