Atom L.L. Team Tirecraft loses close game to Canadian Tire 2-1
The two Ingersoll Atom local league teams faced each other Tuesday February 25th. It was a close game that came down to the final minutes in the third period before Team Tirecraft had a number on the scoreboard.
The first period started with a two minute interference penalty for Team Tirecraft almost two minutes in. Team Tirecraft did a great job of killing off the penalty when Canadian Tire scored just as the Tirecraft player came on the ice. One minute later, Canadian Tire received a body checking penalty. Team Tirecraft had several attempts at scoring, but none of them paid off. With less than two minutes left, Canadian Tire scored again. The first period ended with a score of 2-0 for Canadian Tire.
The battled continued throughout the second period between the two Ingersoll teams. Team Tirecraft successfully prevented Canadian Tire from scoring any further goals. The scored remained 2-0 for Canadian Tire.
Things picked up in the third period. Team Tirecraft determined to score. Eight minutes into the period, Team Tirecraft received a two minute penalty for body checking. #11 Z. Lewis scored a short handed goal. The game ended 2-1 in favour of Canadian Tire.
