BUTTERWORTHS PEEWEE LL LOSES A HEARTBREAKER
On Jan.20 the Butterworth's Esso peewee team hosted Port Dover#1 in a make up game from a previously cancelled one. Both teams were evenly matched , playing a fast paced first period with some good scoring chances for both teams. With sixteen seconds left in period Port Dover finally managed to get one past Butterworths goalie despite some sparkling saves.
The teams played a scoreless second period and then Butterworth's went into the third period needing to hold off Port Dover and find a way to get one past their goalie and they did just that playing an excellent third period and were rewarded when Brody Sanderson scored an unassisted goal with two and a half minutes left to play. With Butterworths pressing for the go ahead goal they had a tough penalty called against them with just over a minute left to play which resulted in a goal against them with thirty-seven seconds left in the game. Butterworth's did not give up though, pulling their goalie and then stormed the Port Dover net but unfortunately weren't able to tie the game, losing 2-1.
