IDMHA TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS

1.    This is an OMHA sanctioned tournament. You must obtain a travel permit from your association.

2.    All games will be officiated under current OMHA rules. The tournament committee reserves the right to make decisions regarding theinterpretation of the rules and all decisions will be final.

3.    Coaches should report to the arena at least one hour prior to the start of their first game in order to sign in/verify rosters.

4.    All referee calls are final.

5.    Period lengths will be 10-10-15, stop time, with a 3 minute warm up, beginning at the discretion of the Time-keeper, Referee(s),Tournament  Director, and/or appointed Board Member. We reserve the right to shorten overall game time by excluding warm up, ice re-surfacing,  changing period length, or otherwise, as required to keep the tournament running efficiently. We also reserve the right to increase period  lengths, if possible and agreeable to both teams involved.

6.    When any team is ahead by 5 or more goals in the 3rd period then straight time and all penalties would then be running time. Penalties received during run-time will be 3 minutes. Straight time will be used until such time that the score gap is reduced to 4 goals, at which time the  clock will revert back to stop time. The only time the clock will be stopped during run time would be in the case of an on-ice injury.

7.    While we do not anticipate a great deviation from the proposed schedule, we reserve the right to adjust game start times, up to 15 minutesearly, without any notification other than being present at the arena. Therefore, teams should be ready to play 20 minutes before each of their  scheduled games.

8.    The following scenarios will be automatic player suspension from the tournament:   Fighting, Gross Misconduct, Match Penalties, 3 penalties in 1 game, or 5 penalties in the tournament.

9.    Games may be called if continuing play is deemed to be detrimental to the best interest of the players, participants, spectators, officials,etc.

10.  Decisions of the appropriate IDMHA Executive Board members will be final and respected.

Time- outs

1. A 30 second time-out will be granted to each team during round robin play.

2. A 60 second time-out will be granted to each team during consolation, championship, or medal games.

Round Robin Format/Points/t Ranking/Playoff Information

1.  Teams will play one game versus each other in their division.

2.  2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, and 0 points for a loss will be awarded.

3.  Forfeited games will be recorded as a 1-0 score.

4.  Teams will be placed upon points obtained during round robin play.

5.  In the event of a tie the following sequence will determine placement;

a.  The team with the greater goal differential (goals for minus goals against), places higher. (Note - the maximumgoal  differential is capped at +/- 5 per game),

b.  if still tied, then least goals against, places higher.

c.  if still tied, then the winning team of the head to head game, places higher,

d.  if still tied, then the team with the fewest penalty minutes, places higher,

e.  if still tied, then a coin toss will occur. The coach of the team traveling farthest to the tournament, will call the flip. Coin  willbe supplied and flipped, onto the floor, unimpeded, by the IDMHA Tournament Director, or appointed Board Member.

6.  Playoff format will be determined based on number of teams per division and will be made available at the start of thetournament.

7.  All playoff games will be done via round robin standings or elimination.

8.  There will be no overtime in round robin play. Overtime in consolation, championship, and medal games will be one, 5 minuteperiod  of 3 on 3, with sudden victory.

9.  If still tied after one 5 minute overtime period, a shoot-out will be held as follows, noting that no player may shoot again until theroster  has been exhausted, over and over again until a winner is determined;

a.  6 players from each team will be chosen by their coach to conduct the first round of the shoot-out,

b.  if still tied, 3 players from each team will be chosen to conduct the second round,

c.  if still tied, 1 player from each team will be chosen to conduct the third round,

d.  if still tied, the shoot out will continue with 1 player from each team, one round at a time, until a winner is determined.
