INGERSOLL EXPRESS ATOM REP PLAY THE ROB JOHNSON MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
It was a fun and exciting weekend for The Ingersoll Express as they played their first tournament of the season.

The first game was Friday evening against The Wallaceburg Lakers.  Ingersoll played their heart out winning the game 7–1. The first period goal was scored by Rydan and assisted by Nolan. Peter denies Wallaceburg any attempts on net. In the second period, Adriaan scores the second goal assisted by Rydan and Chris. There is some great passing happening amongst the team that leaves Wallaceburg scrambling to get the puck, and it pays off when Kaelan adds two more goals to the score board twenty seconds apart. Adriann drops one in the net that is assisted by Noah, and Rydan scores the final two goals for Ingersoll. Wallaceburg scores the last goal of the night. It was a good start to the weekend!

An early game against Mooretown Jr. Flags on Saturday morning and Ingersoll brings home another win!  Rydan scores the first two goals, the second goal assisted by Levon, and Kohen sinks in the final goal with less then a minute left to the game.  Final score is 3 – 1 for Ingersoll.

Saturday afternoon The Express played The Penetang Flames. The Flames open the scoring in the first period but The Express add two goals to the score board putting us ahead by one. Rydan makes the first goal that is assisted by Levon and Nolan. The second goal is scored by Ronan and assisted by Kaelan. Peter is denying The Flames any chance on advancing in the first period. Ingersoll starts the second period off with two fabulous goals. Rydan adds goal number 3 to the board and Nolan scores our fourth goal that is assisted by Caleb and Rydan. Rydan assists Ronan as he grinds one into the net giving Ingersoll a 5-2 lead. The momentum is shifting in the second as Penetang get 3 goals, yet Ingersoll is still leading 5 - 4 when the buzzer goes.  Penetang ties it up halfway through the third period. The Flames score once again, taking the lead 6-5 but Rydan gets a break away and ties it up with help from Ronan and Noah. The momentum is shifting once again as Adriaan scores a beauty goal assisted by Kohen and Noah. This is a real nail biter folks!  Ingersoll claws back as Ronan scores the eighth goal assisted by Kaelan.  The Jr. Flames pull their goalie and Kohen stick handles around the Flames to score the final goal of the day assisted by Cameron and Ty.  The Ingersoll Express head home with high spirits and pride for their team.

Sunday morning The Ingersoll Express played The Newcastle Village Stars. We are off to a positive start this morning as the Express win 7-2.  The first period Kaelan scores the first goal and Rydan the second, assisted by Cameron and Chris and the third that is assisted by Levon and Adriaan.  The boys are hungry for a win and keep the momentum up during the second period. Nolan adds to the tally and scores a goal that is assisted by Kohen. Adriaan scores number five with a back hand rebound that is assisted by Noah and Ty. Caleb chips away on the offensive play of Newcastle, makes a breakaway and sinks one in with help from Chris. Newcastle is fighting hard and fast to score but Peter denies them. Ingersoll maintains a strong lead in the second period with the score now 6-2 for our boys. Ingersoll brings home one more goal in the third period as Rydan gets a hat trick that is assisted by Cameron and Levon.  It was a great game to start the day putting Ingersoll in the Semi Finals.

In between games, the boys take advantage of their time to refuel and study their competitors, The Haggersville Hawks. There were no goals scored for both Ingersoll and Haggersville in the first period. The boys were pushing hard but couldn’t get through Haggersville defense.  After a smooth line change, Rydan gets a breakaway scoring with a back hander in the top right corner that is assisted by Chris. Little did we know that this would be the only goal for Ingersoll ending our winning streak and sending us home.  The boys showed nothing but heart and determination on the ice and even though they came out with a loss, The Ingersoll Express gained so much more in the long run from this tournament. Not only did these boys play amazing together this weekend, their friendships evolved and together they created a stronger bond and team in the process. Way to Go Express!
