Win #1!!!
The peewee LL1 had their fourth game of the season at home on Saturday October 20th. They found themselves with a full team, with G. Arthur making his return, starting in net after being sidelined for the first 3 games for an “upper body” injury. The game proved to be a physical game with the Waterford Wildcats, but the Ingersoll Express team was up for the challenge.

The Waterford Wildcats opened the scoring in the first period with a breakaway goal. This appeared to have awakened a sleeping giant, thirsty for goals. As the Wildcats pushed forward on what they thought would be a rush out of their end, L. Folkema grabbed the loose puck and dazed the Wildcat D taking the puck to the net, and Ingersoll was on the board. A minute later the Ingersoll Express team was pressing again, deep in Wildcat territory, when the puck took an “Ingersoll” bounce and came back out in front of the Wildcat goalie. O. Nigh tipped the puck in for another Express goal late in the first period.

The start of second period saw technical difficulties with the time clock, but both teams didn’t let that slow the momentum of the game. Waterford came on strong early on, tying the game at just over a minute into the second period, but the Express team would answer back. C. Brownscombe found himself behind the Wildcat net looking for the perfect opportunity to sneak one past the Wildcat goalie, and his first goal of the game. This put the Express team up 3-2 to end the second period.

With the Express team up by a goal starting the third period, you could tell the team was excited and hungry for their first win. Fancy stick work by C. Brownscombe, threading the puck between the legs of the Wildcat defenseman, put the Express team up by two goals early on in the third. The Wildcat team kept pressing but to no avail. Defensive pairs C. Ialenti/R. Wilson and D. Piper/M. Karmiris worked hard to shut down the Wildcat forwards. As the clock wound down C. Brownscombe found himself in the perfect position to tip another goal in completing the hat-trick for the game!

Assists in the game go to R. Wilson, L. Folkema, K. Vandamme, O. Lively, and O. Nigh.

Congratulations on the win Ingersoll!!!
