Jack Tolhurst Memorial Tournament
Early in the morning on Friday Oct 20th the Dove Dental Pee Wee AE's headed to Brantford & were able to enjoy the colourful sky as the sun came up! They were heading to Wayne Gretzky arena for 2 games today.
Game 1 would find us against Simcoe. The first period would end with no score but plenty of opportunities for both teams.
With 35 seconds left in the 2nd period, Simcoe would slip one into the back of the net.
The third period continued to have lots of chances, the puck just wouldn't go in the net. With under 2 minutes left, Simcoe was on a power play. With a faceoff in their end, #1 E. Spence would go the bench so that it was 5 on 5. Right off the faceoff there was lots of action in front of the net. #12 L. Skevington would slid it right around the goalie with an assist by #9 K. Clifford.
Game would end in a 1-1 tie.
Game 2 saw a rematch vs Ayr at 1:00.
The boys were fired up, ready for this rematch. Right off the first faceoff, the puck went into the Ayr end. Only 20 seconds into the 1st period, #6 L. Dewit made a pass to #14 B. Williams who fought along the boards & was able to get it to the front of the net for #2 E. Cuthbert to poke in.
Almost 1 minute into period 2 Ayr was able to tie it up. Ayr would strike again with 4:29 left on the clock to pull ahead. 45 seconds later #6 L. Dewit would go coast to coast to tie it up. 50 seconds later with 3 minutes left in the period #14 B. Williams took the puck on his own & buried it to pull ahead by a goal.
The third period saw Ingersoll on a 5 on 3 power play, but they weren't able to make anything come of it. With about 30 seconds left in the period & a faceoff in our end, Ayr would pull their goalie. After some scrambling #2 E. Cuthbert was able to grab the puck & score an empty netter with 24 seconds left to seal the win.
Final score 4-2.
