Battle of Hwy 19 ends in 3-3 draw
On a blustery evening Sunday October 15 our Pee Wee AE Dove Dental team travelled to Tillsonburg to take on our highway rivals the Tornados.
Coming off a tough loss the night before the lads were fired up & ready to go once the puck dropped. The first period was a lot of end to end action with both teams getting numerous chances. Once again #1 E. Spence was stellar & stone walled the opposition. End of 1st 0-0.
Second period was much more intense and physical with both teams crashing the net trying to knock on loose pucks. At 9:47 of the 2nd period #9 K. Clifford would get Ingersoll's first goal with assists from #14 B. Williams & #3 B. Wright. With pressure mounting and the period in the final minutes #2 E. Cuthbert would add Ingersoll's 2nd of the game with assists to #6 L. Dewit & #14 B. Williams. End of 2nd Ingersoll 2-0.
The third period would start off at a fast pace with plenty of battles in the corners & in front of the nets. Tillsonburg would get on the board at 13:55 of the 3rd. Not to be outdone, the Express boys would storm back. With 12:44 left #6 L. Dewit would go coast to coast and fire the puck over the blocker of the Tillsonburg goalie. #3 B. Wright & #15 C. Freeman would add assists. With 5 minutes left Tillsonburg would net the 2nd & then with 2:21 left the 3rd goal to tie the game. In the final minute #12 L. Skevington fired the puck through the goalies legs only to have it spin like a top on the goal line & then swatted away by a defender.
It was a hard fought battle ending in a 3-3 tie. It was an awesome effort by the entire team as they showed plenty of fight right to the final buzzer.
