Carmeuse Leaves St Marys with a Tie
Aaron Lonsberry wasted little time in getting Carmeuse Lime Ltd on the scoreboard Sunday night in St Marys, scoring unassisted at 13:40 of the first period.  After two unsuccessful powerplay opportunities it looked like the period would end 1-0 for Carmeuse; that is until #11 Tanner Gedies, assisted by #14 Ben Jentz, made the score 2-0 at 4:13.  Carmeuse would end the period on the penalty kill after Tucker Forbes, #2, was given two minutes for his reaction after being on the receiving end of a spear; the call, interference.

The Carmeuse penalty kill proved effective and the score remained unchanged as Forbes exited the penalty box at 14:44 of the second period.  Throughout the period Carmeuse was unable to capitalize on the created offensive opportunities; even with this, the team remained focused, patient and disciplined.  These factors were evident late in the third period when Gedies was blatantly tripped as he carried the puck across the St Marys’ blue line.  Carmeuse didn’t falter with the missed call, instead they saw and seized the opportunity.    As Gedies fell to the ice, Carmeuse forward #5 Riley Jayne wasted no time getting to the puck.  He and Lonsberry would make a call on the St Marys’ net-minder, where Lonsberry scored his second of the night at 11:40.  A little over a minute later, St Marys would tie the period, making the score 3-1.

Carmeuse fans could only shake their heads during the third period when #7 Tyler Arts was given a four minute penalty for head contact at 12:51.  The Carmeuse penalty kill would be tested for the second time.  Carmeuse net-minder #1 Brandon Baskett was successful in stopping two very quick shots administered by St Marys; however, the defense was unable to clear the puck after the second save and St Marys would make the score 3-2 at 10:53.  Arts would be granted early release after St Marys tied the score at 9:02.   The third period would look like the first for Carmeuse as the team was unable to capitalize on two powerplay opportunities later in the period.  Carmeuse had won the first period, tied the second and lost the third; the game ended tied 3-3.

Carmeuse travels to Ilderton Thursday night to face-off against the Jets at 9:20.
