Carmeuse Continues Winning Record
It’s Wednesday morning, the middle of the week, hump day.  One week ago today, the players and coaches of Carmeuse Lime Ltd Ingersoll Express Minor Midget Rep looked ahead to a very busy weekend with three games and one practice.  This Wednesday they look back at the weekend record of 2-0-1 and ahead to another hockey-filled weekend.

Last Thursday, November 12, the Ilderton Jets landed in Ingersoll and scored the first goal of the game at 10:09 of the first period.  The score remained unchanged until 08:00 of the third period, when Carmeuse forward, #17 Bram O’Connor, assisted by #11 Tanner Gedies tied the score.  Just shy of seven minutes later, at 1:23, the Jets answered with what they figured would be the game-winning goal.  The Oilers’ celebration would be short-lived as #6 Eric Savoie, assisted by #15 Dawson Kays (C) would even the score at 2-2 with just 22 seconds left on the clock.  It would be the last goal of the game.

With the tie posted in the standings, Carmeuse was hungry for a win as they travelled to Ridgetown the next night to play the South Kent Lightning. Savoie, this time assisted by #7 Tyler Arts, posted the first goal at 8:20 of the first period.  Just seconds into the second period the Lightning would tie the game, but would fail to win the period after #3 Jacob Branderhorst, assisted by #16 Brock Swain, scored at 5:39.  Carmeuse continued their winning ways in the third with three goals; the first at 13:41 by #14 Ben Jentz, assisted by #10 Aaron Lonsberry (A); then, just two minutes later, Arts, assisted by Jentz and Gedies, placed a little offensive insurance on the scoreboard.  At 1:23, Savoie scored a solo shot, making the score 5-1, which is where it remained as the final buzzer sounded.

151118-19.jpgCarmeuse practiced on Saturday night, then hosted the Petrolia Oilers Sunday night at the Ingersoll District Memorial Centre.  Just one week prior, these two teams met at the Bob Tansley Memorial Tournament in Tillsonburg, where they finished in a 2-2 tie.  It was very evident Sunday night in Ingersoll each team was looking for the win.

O’Connor put Carmeuse on the scoreboard at 13:41 of the first period.  Kays, assisted by Savoie and #30, Carmeuse net-minder, Ryan Calder, made the score 2-1 at 12:31.  Exactly three minutes later, Kays and Savoie united again to make the score 3-0.

There would be three goals scored in the third period and Carmeuse would post the first two.  O’Connor would earn an assist as Gedies scored the first goal of the period at 9:52.  Just a little over a minute later, Kays, assisted by Savoie and Arts, made the score 5-0. The Oilers would find a way past the Carmeuse net-minder at 3:42, making the score 5-1, which is where it remained until the end of the third period.

On this Wednesday morning, the Carmeuse Lime Ltd Ingersoll Express Minor Midget team has little time to look back as they prepare to host the Mount Brydges Cougars, tomorrow night at the Ingersoll District Memorial Centre.  Game time is 9:30 and tickets are still available.  This will be quite the match since these two teams last met in the final game of the Bob Tansley Memorial Tournament two weeks ago, where Carmeuse claimed the 3-2 win.  Friday Carmeuse travels to Cottage Country to play in the Huntsville Otters Midget AE Tournament.
