Bantam Rep Starts SCMHA Playoffs
The Ingersoll Express Bantam Rep team sponsored by Louie's Pizza and Pasta hosted their old friends the Simcoe Warriors on Saturday night to kick off the Southern Counties playoffs.
From the first drop of the puck it was evident that both teams wanted to start the playoffs with a win. Simcoe struck first with only 48 seconds left in the 1rst period sending the Express into the 2nd down by one then the Warriors made it 2-0 at 13:16 and then moved to 3-0 at 11:05. The Express got on the board when Parker Hodgson came on the ice and put in a wrap around unassisted at 9:30, then Ingersoll got another when Clayton Hammond put in a saucer pass from Hodgson and Symon Hutcheson to make it 3-2. Simcoe scored again with 1:28 left in the 2nd putting the Express down 2 again.
The 3rd period went back and forth with both sides wearing down until at 4:32 Maxx Shelton put one in assisted by Hodgson and Liam Knoxx to move within one. At 4:48 Simcoe scored again to make it 5-3 until Hodgson got his 2nd assisted by Hammond with ten seconds left to make it a 5-4 game. This would be the final score with Ingersoll having to take a loss in the 1rst game off the playoffs.
