Express get retribution in game 1
The Glenda Ponsonby Ingersoll/Oxford Realty Ingersoll Express Peewee rep team took their first step towards the International Silver Stick on Friday morning, and got a little payback along the way, beating the Mount Brydges Cougars by a score of 5-3.

The team faced off against the Mount Brydges Cougars on Friday morning, the same team that beat them just two short weeks ago in the Regional Final in Watford.  The game started off with the teams feeling each other out again, Ingersoll knowing that they could beat the Cougars with a fresh squad.  At the 3:42 mark of the first period Alex Foster grabbed a rebound in th crease and put it home while on the power play, giving Ingersoll the 1-0 lead.  Then just 42 second later Justin Holmes fired the puck in front of the net from below the goal crease and scoring from the bad angle, quickly putting Ingersoll ahead by 2.

The teams then went to the dressing rooms for the flood, and hopes were that the momentum that the Express were building wouldn't be lost.  The teams came out for the second and Ingersoll continued their pressure, and a minute and a half into the period Holmes added his second of the game when he walked iin off the left wing and put a backhander high past the Mt. Brydges goalie.  Ingersoll continued to hold their lead until a late second period goal by Mt. Brydges closed the score to 3-1.

Mt. Brydges came out in the third knowing that theyhad to do something to take away from Ingersoll's game, and at the 14:35 mark cut the score to 3-2 on a scramble in front of the net.  But rather than getting down on themselves and taking their foott off the gas, Ingersoll stormed back and scored on a nice play to Daytn Raciot in the high slot just 10 seconds later.  Mt. Brydges then got themselves a powerplay and were able to score, again coming within one with 12 minutes left in the third.  But from that point on Ingersoll locked it down, keeping the chances to the outside an continuing to add pressure rather than try to protect the lead.  Mt. Brydges pulled their goalie in the last minute of the game, and with 40 seconds left Justin Holmes cleared his zone with  backhand.  Finally Ingersoll got a break, and the puck curled towards rather than away from the net, crossing the goal line for a goal instead of icing and sealing the win for Ingersoll 5-3.

Next game for the team is Friday afternoon at 3:15 in Watford when they take on the Cyclones from Listowel.
