Ingersoll Appliance Novice Team Looking Good for Their First Game of the Season
Anderson Appliance’s Novice team played 2 games this past weekend to kick off their season together as a team. Saturday morning saw us in Burford for an amazing first game against the Bulldogs. And Sunday morning found us on home ice against the Six Nations team.
As the team gathered in the dressing room before the start of their first game together, Coach Nelson gave them some last minute tips and tricks for their first game together. Passing to your teammates, using the boards, playing their positions and the all important offside rules. But most importantly each and every player needed to have FUN. And from where I was sitting in the arena, before and after the game, all of the kids on the Anderson Appliance Novice team had smiles on their faces. After many tries on net, Tanner George got our first goal of the season with 1 minute left in the first period, assisted by Marisa Freeman. During the second period Joel Gardham broke out from the rest of the players and made his way down the ice to score our second goal. But he wasn’t done yet! Joel went on to score the 3rd and winning goal using one of the tips from Coach. He kept following up on each shot on net, and finally his persistence paid off and it went it! At 10:40 in the third period, the Bulldogs sent down their biggest player on a breakaway. Logan blocked their tries, and made an amazing save. The 4th (Marisa Freeman, unassisted) and 5th (Marissa Freeman, Assisted by Tanner George and Eddie Ball) goals scored were just like the icing on top! Way to go team! Anderson Appliance’s all the way! Goalie for the game, Logan Brunzlow. Final score 5-2 For our second game of the season, the Ingersoll Appliance Novice team finds themselves on home ice against the Six Nations team. Once again our goaltender is Logan Brunzlow. As the crowd got settled into their seats, the goal scoring started! The team held their own repeating each of the opposing teams goals with one of their own and the entire team put up a good offensive line, but we just couldn't seem to keep them our of our end. Goal #1 scored by Joel Gardham, Goal #2 scored by Eddie Ball, Goal #3 scored by Marisa Freeman, Goal #4 scored by Zachary Lewis, Goal #5 scored by Marisa Freeman, and Goal #6 scored by Zachary Lewis. For a final score of 9-6 Logan did a great job as goaltender for the team's first weekend playing together.
