Happy Holidays! Silver Stick Time

With Christmas just passing us by the time for Silver stick is upon us. With two games on the schedule to seed the teams for the second round.
Our first game was against the Petrolia Oliers and with our history of morning games we would have our work cut out for us.
This game was a battle from the beginning and with sleep still in the eyes our Express fought hard to earn a tie 2-2.
With this tie thought we had won two of the three periods of the game. By having us score 1 in the first and Petrolia getting both goals in the second then had The Express come back and tie and dominate the third.
The second game was scheduled a little later in the day and giving our team a chance to recharge over a meal and some laughs.
The second game was against the Wallaceburg Lakers. With the strong play of our goaltender and relentless attack from our forwards we came out of the match up with a 3-2 win.
With the results in The Ingersoll Express Novice Rep team is seeded in third place for the second round of the tournament. Out of all the results this looks to be in our favour as we only have a chance to run into the so dubbed top dog teams including the ever dreaded Mt. Brydges Cougars.
I will now take this time to offer some advice from the sidelines for our Express to continue on in this tournament.
When you get to the change room take some time and look to your left and look to your right. Not only do you see your teammates you will see your life line to the finals. If you do not trust in one another you will fail. If you do not play your positions and trust others to play theirs you will fail. You can not win this as individual players you can only win this as a team.
If they score a goal it is not the fault of the goaltender it is the fault of the team as the forwards let the puck get out of the other end and the defence broke down to let them have a shot. This is a TEAM game you can be the Champs. You know the feeling now get it back! Play your positions, play together, play to win. The greatest feeling you can feel is beating that team that you thought you never could. There is no "I can't" take all negatives out of your mind and only use the positive ones.
When you think you cannot skate one more stride take two, when you think you can't catch that guy in front of you pass him, when you feel you have only one last breath take two more. There is always more you have to learn to go out and take it!
