The BrokerLink Atom Rep team extended their unbeaten streak to five games with a convincing 4-1 victory over the Delhi Rockets on Tuesday night in Delhi.
The first period was fast-paced with both teams fighting hard to get on the scoreboard. The Rockets managed to launch one into the top corner of the Ingersoll net to take an early 1-0 lead, but strong defence, goaltending, and backchecking by the forwards held Delhi to one. In the final two minutes of the 1st, the Express came alive as Ben White took a pass from Alex Schuett to open the scoring for Ingersoll, followed quickly by another Ingersoll goal on the same shift, this one scored by Seth Hedges from White. Score after 1st, 2-1 Ingersoll. Great comeback!
The 2nd and 3rd periods were filled with hard skating, passing, and lots of shooting at the Delhi goal. Ben White, with the help of Ben Brown, fired in his second goal of the game with only four seconds left in the 2nd period to put Ingersoll up 3-1 heading into the 3rd. Early in the 3rd, Nathan Bailey took a pass at the point from Cohen Belore and fired the puck on net. The Delhi goalie blocked the shot but sent the rebound to Aden Brown who snapped it right into the corner of the net, putting Ingersoll into a 4.-1 lead. Dominic Kingsbury was solid in net all game, helping the Express reach the 5-game unbeaten streak. Keep up the hard work Express!
The Atoms host Langton at home on Thursday @ 7pm and then head to Huntsville for tournament action on Friday, intent on bringing home a championship trophy.
