Monday night, the Ingersoll Bantam LL C.E.P.U. played host to Burford. The Burford team came in to Ingersoll on a hot streak and posting a record of 6 Wins and 1 Loss in the 2nd half. Following Sunday’s game in Norwich, Ingersoll C.E.P.U. would have to face the Hot Burford group with 8 skaters with 3 players on the sidelines due to suspensions.
The teams played a back and forth scoreless 1st period which saw very few chances for either team. In the 2nd period, Ingersoll center, Noah Schonberger would fire two goals on hard plays to the Burford goal. The first goal came unassisted at 7:47 of the period with the teams playing 4 on 4 after Ingersoll while on the powerplay was served with another suspension hit from behind, leaving the team with 7 skaters for the remainder of the game. Schonberger scored again 4 minutes later on a pass from Justin Koch to give Ingersoll an unexpected 2-0 lead. Burford would make it close before the end of the 2nd when with 1:01 left Bron Rushner took a pass from below the goal line and backhanded a shot off the post behind Josh Loranger.
The 3rd period was scoreless with Ingersoll holding on with tight defensive play, time and time again dumping the puck out of their end to run out the clock. When called upon, Josh Loranger was solid between the pipes, stopping Burford shots and controlling the rebounds.
Player of the Game for Ingersoll went to the 7 guys that gutted out the 3 periods for the victory.
Ingersoll's next game is next Saturday, February 2nd at 4:30 PM when they travel to Waterford with a shortened bench once again.
