C.E.P.U. Local 3264 Prevails in Battle of Ingersoll
Tuesday night hockey at the Ingersoll Arena featured the hometown matchup of Bantam LL Teams C.E.P.U. Local 3264 and Thamesford Pizza. Both teams having solid seasons thus far found themselves battling for 1st place in the standings with Norwich #1.
After a back and forth start with chances at both ends of the ice, Jared Campbell opened the scoring for C.E.P.U. pouncing on a rebound in front of Seth Deakin. Assising on Campbell's goal were Daniel Maloney and Justin Koch.
C.E.P.U. opened up a 2 goal lead on a nice goal from Maloney when he rushed from his own end and backhanded a shot past Deakin. Zach Catry and Jacob Vanderheide assisted on the goal. 25 seconds after Thamesford Pizza closed the gap to 1 when Dakota Lednicky made a couple of nice moves after receiving a pass from Brock Swain and deposited the puck in the back of the net behind Josh Loranger. From that point on Loranger stood tall in the C.E.P.U. net and would deny chance after chance preventing Thamesford Pizza the opportunity to tie the game.
With that kind of effort between the pipes the team responded by effectively killing a 5-3 powerplay and even stretched the lead to 3-1 when Brodie Warnock scored on an end to end rush unassisted.
Warnock would ice the game early in the 3rd when he scored his 2nd of the night with the assist going once again to Justin Koch.
With the win and one game to go in the 1st half C.E.P.U. can wrap up 1st place overall in league play with another win on the road in Delhi on Thursday night.
