In order to be a volunteer with any organized hockey association, you must follow the proper channels of qualification which are noted below.
Failure to complete these qualifications will result in rostering issues, thus cancellation of games, tournament, etc.
COACHES ONBOARDING Qualifications:
ALL COACHES, TRAINERS, MANAGERS, AND ON ICE HELPERS MUST COMPLETE THE ONTARIO HOCKEY FEDERATION SCREENING PROCESS AND OBTAIN A POLICE CHECK BEFORE STEPPING ON THE ICE. A current police check is valid for three years and can be used in the OHF screening process.

The following courses – if payment is necessary – reimbursement is provided by IDMHA.
For you to be the Head Coach of a LOCAL LEAGUE team you will need to be a minimum of Coach 2 - Coach Level Trained and complete the courses below:
• HU - Checking - Prerequisite for the Coach 2 - Coach Level Clinic
• HU - Coach 1/Coach 2 Course - Prerequisite for the Coach 2 - Coach Level Clinic
• Coach 2 - Coach Level Course • Respect in Sport - Activity Leader
• Gender Identity & Expression Course For you to be the Assistant Coach of a U11 HL/LL/MD/Select team you will need to be a minimum of Coach 2 - Coach Level Trained and complete the courses below:
• HU - Checking - Prerequisite for the Coach 2 - Coach Level Clinic
• HU - Coach 1/Coach 2 Course - Prerequisite for the Coach 2 - Coach Level Clinic
• Coach 2 - Coach Level Course
• Respect in Sport - Activity Leader
• Gender Identity & Expression Course
For you to be the TRAINER OF A LOCAL LEAGUE team you will need the following courses:
• Hockey Trainers Ontario Level 1 Course
• Gender Identity and Expression Course
• Respect in Sport - Activity Leader
For you to be the Manager of a LOCAL LEAGUE team you will need the following courses:
• Gender Identity and Expression Course
• Respect in Sport - Activity Leader
