Atom Express LL #2 vs. Simcoe Warriors #3
After a rough couple of games last weekend, Ingersoll put up a tough fight against a strong team from Simcoe but walked away with a 5-2 loss.  The Vision Property Mgmt. team started the game off strong with lots of action in the Simcoe end of the rink.  The offence was digging in the corners and the defence held the blue line.  The Simcoe goalie had a great pair of defence man in front to help keep the shots from reaching the net.

The Express train was chugging along and great work from #7 Carson Ling and #13 Cole Brownscombe made the first shots on net happen early in the period.  #15 Caden Groves made a great rush up the centre but was caught just before he could let the shot go.  The Express goal #1 Damien Vandamme was solid in net making some fantastic saves to hold the score at 0-0.  The scoring got started at 2:40 in the first period when the Express defence got caught with Warrior players circling behind them and a great clearing play lead to a breakaway.  Kadin had no chance on the snipers high shot to the top corner and the score was 1-0.  Simcoe was finding their groove now and quickly made the score 2-0 at 1:40 after the puck came to the front of the Ingersoll net and 2 Warriors banged at the puck until it crossed the line.  Ingersoll regrouped and escaped the period with the score at 2-0.
The second period started with end to end rushes by both teams and the goalies made some fine saves to hold the puck out.  Simcoe pushed the score up to 3-0 at 8:24 after all the Express players chased the puck into the offensive corner on the goalies glove side.  Unfortunately, the puck was passed up to the waiting Warrior forwards who where waiting at the blue line.  It was a 3 on 0 but the puck carrier wasn't interested in passing and rang the puck off Kadin mask and into the back of the net.  With the score at 3-0, Ingersoll didn't give up and forced the puck back up the ice.  #4 Kadin Vandamme took the puck behind the net and tried a wrap around after making a great move at the hash mark along the left hand side of the ice.  The puck was out front and #7 Carson Ling and #13 Cole Brownscombe crashed the net and muscled the put behind the goalie at 5:13.  Great effort from all the players to make that goal happen.  Simcoe came roaring back and after catching Ingersoll out of position found themselves on a 3 on 1.  The Simcoe player fired a rocket into the top corner at 4:08 and the score was at 4-1 and that was how the period would end.
The third period was underway and Ingersoll quickly found themselves on the penalty kill after the Ingersoll defence man was caught standing still and used his stick to upend the rushing Warrior.  The Express team did an excellent job icing the puck and burning off the time on the clock.  Ingersoll's hard work payed off and the puck stayed out of the net while down a player.  The Express train kept up the solid effort and where rewarded at 4:37 when Ingersoll's #17 JR Sholdice and #4 crashed hard to the net and jammed the puck under the sprawling goalie to cut the lead to 4-2.  Great hustle on the goal boys!  Simcoe didn't back down and found themselves on another breakaway at 2:42 and made a quick shot through the 5 hole to make the score 5-2.  Ingersoll scrambled hard the last few minutes of the game but the score would remain the same at the final horn.  It was a great game to watch and the Express players should be proud of their efforts
