Atom Express LL #2 vs. Tillsonburg Tornadoes #3
The kids boarded the Express train to Tillsonburg and the ride out there was full of frustration and detours and that didn't change when the train collided with the Tornadoes!  The puck dropped at 7pm Wednesday night and the Tornadoes spun up to full steam in a hurry.  Pucks came at the net from all angles as the Ingersoll players where trapped in their own end, unable to get the puck out.  The Ingersoll goalie #1 Damien Vandamme was tested early and did a remarkable job deflecting the rubber.  The scoring started at 8:35 in the first period with Ingersoll backed up in their own end a shot came at the net from the point and a screened goalie had no chance of stopping the puck.  That put the Tornadoes up 1-0.

It wasn't a lack of effort from the Ingersoll players as there was bodies flying everywhere trying to steal the puck.  Tillsonburg did a great job on the positional play and had their defence man on the blue line holding the zone and gobbling up the clearing attempts.  Ingersoll's #4 Kadin Vandamme took it upon himself to clear the puck and turned it into a breakaway but his shot slid just past the post on the wrong side and the score remained 1-0.  Tillsonburg went right back on the offensive and continued to pound the puck toward the net.  The Ingersoll net minder had a huge help from #5 Danny Kaiser and #15 Caden Groves who took turns blocking shots with anything possible.  Great effort out there boys!  As the first period was coming to an end #2 Nathan Kapitor pick the puck from a streaking Tillsonburg player at the red line and weaved his way down the ice.  After some nifty stick handling, Nathan made his was to the hashmarks and tried to get a shot away but the converging defence stuck a stick out and foiled his attempt.  Awesome attempt Nate!  The first period ended with a score of 1-0
The second period started much like the first with Tillsonburg taking control of the puck and Ingersoll fighting to clear the zone.  Ingersoll's goalie Damien did a great job making save after save but it wasn't enough to prevent a goal off a rebound from his chest.  The puck landed right on a Tornadoes stick and a wide open net made for an easy goal at 8:43.  Tough break Damien, sometimes you can't stop them all.  Ingersoll found some life and put some qualitiy shifts together and few shots on net.  The play was back and forth and the second period ended with a score of 2-0.
The third period started with a bang as the Tornadoes ripped down the ice from the face-off and fired 3 quick shots on net.  The third shot found the back of the net at 12:49 and pushed the score to 3-0.  The Tornadoes stayed in the Ingersoll end of the ice until #4 Kadin Vandamme once again took the puck from his own end and raced down the ice.  He cut his way to the left hand side of the net but found the front jammed with Tillsonburg players so he slid behind the net on route to a wrap around.  As he reached the right side of the net he noticed a streaking #12 Marshall Karmaris who did the smart play and charged to the net.  Marshall wasted no time and slammed the pass into the net to light the lamp at 10:00.  Awesome Goal Marshall and a nice pass Kadin!  That cut the lead to 3-1.  The celebration was short lived as Tillsonburg got the puck in deep and made Ingersoll pay for being on their heels with a goal at 9:43.  That moved the margin back to 3 as the score became 4-1.  The Tornadoes where relentless and continued to hold the puck in the Ingersoll zone with lots of pucks flying at the net.  At 8:09 Tillsonburg added an insurance goal to push the score up to 5-1.  The horn was sounded with 5:05 left on the clock as the game was called due to time limit.  The players all tried their best and should be proud of how they played.  The scoreboard doesn't show the effort!  Good luck on Saturday
