Juvenile Express Win Forces Deciding Game
The Ingersoll Carmeuse Lime Express Juvenile rep team entered Friday’s game in Hespeler trailing 3 point to 1 in the four point series needing a win to force a fourth game.  The Express responded with a convincing 4-1 win setting up game 4 Sunday afternoon in Ingersoll.

After some back and forth action during the first half of the first period, the Express would open the scoring with 7:00 minutes remaining in the period.  Shortly after killing of a penalty, Ingersoll’s Carter Franklin would flip the puck high in the air out of the Ingersoll end and Clayton Hammond would use his speed to track down the loose puck to set up a two on one.  Hammond would draw the lone Shamrock defender towards him before feeding a perfect pass to Eric Savoi who as alone in the slot and would make no mistake firing a bullet wrist shot high over the glove hand of the Shamrock’s goalie to give Ingersoll a 1-0 lead.  With 4:25 left in the first period, the Express would force a turnover in the Shamrocks end and Derek Johnson would pick up the loose puck and would fire a puck past the Shamrock’s goalie to give Ingersoll a 2-0 lead after the first period. Qwertay Die and Hayden Snyder would draw assists on the play.

The second period would remain scoreless until 1:16 remaining in the period when Brodie Sclater would feed a pass to Qwertay Die who sped down the right side of the ice, slid the puck between his legs to get past a Shamrocks defender before firing a short side shot over the Shamrock goalie’s glove hand off the cross bar and into the net for a highlight reel goal.  Had this game been televised it would have been worthy of highlight of the night consideration. The Express would close out the second with a 3-0 lead.

Any thoughts of a comeback by Hespeler were dashed early in the third period.  A great display of forechecking the line of Qwertay Dei, Derek Johnson and Kirk Meek would allow the puck to find it’s way to Brodie Sclater at the right point who would rip a low shot that picked the blocker side corner to give Ingersoll a 4-0 lead just 48 seconds into the third period.  With 3:54 left in the third, Hespeler’s Michael Turco would cut across the middle of the ice before firing a shot from the hash marks that beat Express goalie Ryan Calder to end the shutout bid.  Despite giving up the goal, Calder was solid in net all night long coming up with several big saves to keep the Shamrocks at bay and not allowing them to gain any momentum.

This game featured an all around solid performance by the entire team.  The win ties the series at 3 point each with the fourth and deciding game set to be played in on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm in Ingersoll.
