What a Difference a Couple of Days Make…
Ingersoll Pharmasave Tyke Selects made it to Dorchester on
Saturday Nov. 23 for their Second game of the season to take on the St Thomas
Stars Tykes. The Ingersoll team entered
this game with only one game under their belt but the experience gained from the
first game was still strong in their minds.
The Coaching staff prepared the team with anticipation that the St. Thomas Tykes would be strong and out to get a win. The game started with the high pace once again but with a different twist. The Ingersoll Pharmasave Tyke Selects was the team setting the high pace, much different from the first game of the season. The Ingersoll Pharmasave Tykes were rewarded early in the First period when # 11- W. Parsons took the puck away from the St. Thomas player and skated through the rest of the team and put one past the St. Thomas Goalie at 8:46 of the first Period.
The Second shift of the game matched the high pace set from the start. 28 seconds later, #16 – E. Cuthbert fired the puck past the St. Thomas Net minder giving the Ingersoll Pharmasave Tyke Selects a two goal lead.
With 2:36 remaining in the First period, # 9 – C. Macpherson was digging hard and rewarded when his shot went past the St. Thomas Goalie giving the Ingersoll Pharmasave Tyke Selects a three Goal lead.
The second period was off to a fast start just as the first period did. At 9:48 of the second period, the Ingersoll Pharmasave Tyke Selects were at it again, # 14 – B. Williams beat the St. Thomas Goalie scoring his first goal of the game. #16 – E. Cuthbert gave the short pass and was credited with the Assist. The rest of the second period was filled with action at both ends of the rink with both teams getting their chances. With 7.4 seconds left in the second period, after receiving a pass from #4 – N. White, # 11 – W. Parsons went in on the St. Thomas net and Scored his second goal of the game. The Ingersoll Pharmasave Tyke Selects 4 and the St. Thomas Stars Tykes nil.
At 7:05 of the Third Period, the St. Thomas Stars Tykes scored their only goal of the game. #17 – A. MacMillan scored with #7 – M. Zylstra Assisting. The rest of the Third period was again filled with both teams going end to end. Ingersoll Pharmasave Tyke Selects goal Keeper #1 – M. Cudney was strong in net and kept the puck out. With 1:21 left in the game, # 14 – B. Williams broke through the St. Thomas Defense and scored his second goal of the game. The Final Score was Ingersoll Pharmasave Tyke Selects 6, St. Thomas Stars Tykes 1.
This win brings the Ingersoll Pharmasave Tyke Selects season record to 1 Win and 1 Loss.
With practices schedule throughout the next few weeks, the kids will be ready for their next game on Dec. 21 vs. Dorchester.
