A great hockey game found Thamesford
Pizza rolling out the red carpet for Burford's Bantam team in
Ingersoll, on October 20th at 8pm. The fans of both teams
were out in full force and the house was filled with great
expectations. Neither team disappointed as all their skills came to
bear on the ice. Pucks found the back of both nets repeatedly. In
the end, however, only one team would come out on top.
The first and period was punctuated with goals for Ingersoll's Thamesford Pizza as Craig Wild poked a puck home twice – with assistance from Braedon McNeil, and Tyler Debruyn, as well as Austin George. Wild provided some assistance himself to Hayden Homewood in the second period as Homewood was able to slip the puck into the Burford net.
Burford would not relent, however, and the visiting players were able to put a goal home in the first period, followed by three more goals in the second period.
Later in the second period, Anthony Ziraldo assisted Mike Veale in a play that was able to beat the Burford goalie a fourth time. Ziraldo was not finished, however, as he and Jacob Branderhorst assisted Marcus Frizelle in period number three, with the final goal of the game.
Burford struggled to gain control of this epic hockey game, but the buzzer sounded and Thamesford Pizza Bantams took the win. The final score of this fine match-up was Burford 4, and Ingersoll 5.
Yes, this hockey season is well under way now, as we look forward to seeing what our boys can do each time they put blades to ice.
