The Ball is rolling again!
After a much needed break, Ingersoll’s Carmeuse Lime/Verspeeten Cartage PeeWee LL team is back.  They had some great practices and their hard work paid off as they played 3 great games in a row.

Saturday December 7th, the team headed to Port Dover where they played a close game. Matthew Debruyn scored the first goal in under 2 min into the first period.  A min later Dover scored one to bring it to a tie score. Not to be outdone, Nolan Costa passes to Cole Millard for goal number 2 with the clock at 6:00.  With under a min on the clock, Dover scores their second goal bringing a tie 2-2 score for the end of first period.  Second period was busy with only one goal scored by Dover in the last 2 min.  Ingersoll’s Nolan Costa scores the third and final goal in the second half of the third period to end the score with a 3-3 tie score.  A wonderful edge of your seat game played by all!

Tillsonburg was next on the schedule for Sunday December 8th afternoon. Such an exciting game, the edge of my seat was needed as this was a great game to be on your feet for!  Almost half way into the first period Nathan Graham scores with the assistance of Nolan Costa.  Second period starts with Ingersoll in the lead.  They held their ground, and with the clock at 5:38 Ethan Laporte makes a clean pass to Camden McDougall for goal #2! Face off at 1:25 Cole Millard passes to Nolan Costa and it’s in! Second period buzzer sounds with a score of 3-0 for Ingersoll!  Third period was a busy one with some players visiting the penalty box on both teams and Owen Longlade was down but not out, Fantastic to see the players standing up for each other! Kiara Haley was only inches away from her first ever goal, but did an awesome job screening the goalie with Devon Jones.  Ingersoll’s fourth and final goal is scored early in the third period by Nolan Costa with the assistance of Cole Millard and Ethan Vlemmix.  Third period ends with a final score of 4 to 0! A shut out game for Megan Longlade! Way to hold them girl!

The team’s third game was a home one on Monday December 9th against Waterford.  And they just keep getting better! Ingersoll’s Verspeeten Cartage/Carmeuse Lime played a strong game and kept Waterford on the defense.  Clock at 6:36 and Nolan Costa and Matthew Debruyn assist Camden McDougall in Ingersoll’s first goal of the game.  A min later and Camden sends it over to Nathan Graham for goal #2.  And they kept the ball rolling as Colin Dench scores an unassisted goal only a minute later! 3-0 for Ingersoll and it’s only the first period.  Less than a minute into the second period and Ethan Vlemmix makes a nice pass over to Nolan Costa for a fourth goal. The ball rolls again as Owen Longlade scores goal #5 unassisted.  Second period ends with Ingersoll at 6 goals as Matthew Debruyn and Nathan Graham assist Camden McDougall score goal #6.  Third period was my favourite by far this season.  Not because Ingersoll won their second game in a row, but because of the sportsmanship they displayed.  A seventh and final game goal was scored as Ethan Laporte and Cole Millard passed the puck to Devon Jones who is playing his first year of hockey and he scores his first ever goal!! The sight of his teammates joining him on the ice to pat him on the back was heartwarming.  Congratulations to Megan Longlade on another shut out game!

To all the players, Nathan Graham, Devon Jones, Colin Dench, Camden McDougall, Keegan Purdy, Ethan Laporte, Owen Longlade, Nolan Costa, Matthew Debruyn, Ethan Vlemmix, Kiara Haley, David Timleck, Cole Millard, Megan Longlade, Brodi Carbaugh and your families, may you have a wonderful holiday season and keep up the great work!  I look forward to seeing more of your teamwork, hockey skills and edge of my seat games!
