After competing in two tournaments over the holidays, the BrokerLink Atom rep team is gearing up for what promises to be an exciting month of playoff/playdown hockey.
After capturing the Silver banner in Silver Stick just after Christmas, the BrokerLink Atom rep team won two of their four games this past weekend in the 2014 Tavistock Optimist Atom one-day tournament. After disappointing losses to Strathroy and Tavistock, the Express enjoyed taking two wins from the Shallow Lake Lakers, as well as competing in a timed relay and a shoot-out competition.
On Sunday the Atom Express traveled to Six Nations for the first game of Southern County playoffs. In their only previous meeting this season, the Six Nations Chiefs outscored the Express 7-5, so it was payback time. Coming off two wins the day before, the Express were pumped from the moment they stepped on the ice. It was a close game from the start, with penalties being called on both teams as each tried to get the upper hand by being tougher than the other. In then end, the Express came out with an exciting and well-deserved 3-2 victory. Great work Express!
OMHA Playdowns begin tonight as the Atom Express travel to Tavistock intent on conquering the Titans, and then off to Wellesly Thursday for Playoff game #2, this one vs Twin Centre. Play hard Express!
