Team Butterworths All Tied Up 2-2
The Ingersoll Novice Local League team tied their home ice game against Norwich on Monday February 10th.
Team Butterworths was fired up to play hockey. Through most of the first period, Ingersoll skated hard to keep the puck in the Norwich end. Their scoring opportunity came when #16 E. Cuthbert carried the puck on a breakaway into the Norwich zone and shot the puck past the Norwich goaltender. Team Butterworths leading the game 1-0 at the end of the first period.
During the second period, Norwich kept the pressure on the Ingersoll Team. Norwich scored four minutes into the period. Team Butterworths scrambled hard to gain the advantage for the remaining six minutes. It is amazing how such a short period of time can seem like an eternity in a hockey game. Game tied up 1-1 at the end of the second period.
We are down to the crunch in the third period. Norwich started strong with a goal two minutes into the third period. Team Butterworths winger #9 R. Wolfe set up #4 C. Holland who passed to #16 E. Cuthbert to score with seven minutes left. The scramble continued for the remaining five minutes of the third period. Both teams fought hard to score. Final score 2-2 tie.
