Atom Reps Looking Ahead to OMHA Playdowns!
The R.McNiven and Sons Atom Reps have been very busy the last 4 months. It has been a roller coaster ride to say the least, playing in numerous exhibition and league games.
The team in one stretch played 4 tournaments in a 7 week period, managing a ‘B’ Championship in the Tillsonburg Tournament, and were finalist losing in the Strathroy Olympic Tournament. The team has put a stronger effort together as of late collecting points in 6 of the last 8 league games played compiling a 4W-2T-2L record. During the Christmas holidays, the Alvinston Regional Silverstick was definitely a great learning experience for the team and although the Express didn’t come out on the winning end, the lesson learned, as in all games is that it takes 35 minutes of ‘team’ play, 100% effort, and Lady Bing like performances (stay out of the penalty box) to win a hockey game.
Coaches Ian Ellis, Warren Shelton, and Scott Gould have worked hard with the kids teaching them ‘team skills’, and fine tuning there defensive and offensive attacks. If the Express play as a ‘team’, and respect that ‘defense’ comes first to winning, and a little luck, they will go far in OMHA’s. The most important thing of all is to have fun, and enjoy playing with your friends in this experience!
The Express will be playing the Aylmer Flames in the first round starting this Thursday, January 13/2011 at 7pm at Ingersoll Memorial Arena. So come on out, bring your clappers, your drums, bells, your significant other, and/or whatever noise makers you have and support your hometown Express as they all hope to make the journey to the OMHA finals!
